why does xB have traction and vsc but the tC doesn't?

Why all the confusion about "PLATFORM Sharing"??? Platform has almost nothing to do with sheetmetal. Most all FWD vehicles have had unibody construction since the 70's which is about the time that platform sharing got started.

i could really go for some traction control in my tC in the rain. i can't go over 3,000rpms in first or 2nd gear. i can barely take off with the stock tires when it's really pouring.

It's "sporty" at best!

Phantom Grip makes one for the tC now and i just emailed Quaife and they say they will prolly have one soon because the tC's differential is very similar to the MR-2 which they already produce.

I think one big reason the TRAC was probably omitted is to keep the price below a certain point decided upon by the Toyota/Scion marketing gurus, but I would think you should be able to get an aftermarket LSD before too long. There is even an LSD for Echo/xA/xB's out already though its not on sale in the U.S. I beleive it's a TRD Japan part.

he..he the xB is largely responsible for people knowing what scion is. But that is not necessarily a good thing because when I tell people i got a scion, their first reaction is "please tell me you didnt get the ugly box". So in a way you are right I guess.

Most xB owners I know, myself included, wouldn't want an tC and most tC owners wouldn't want an xB. It's all about diversity.

Eventually the tC may pass the xB in popularity. But that will be due to the xB going out of production after the 06' model year
Untill then the xB with it's elegance/value price/modability= "KING" of the pack. It's what people think of when they think of SCION
It's easy for the tC owners to think otherwise because that is what they own. IMO
OH, and the people that call it ugly are way outnumbered by the folks that absolutely love the looks like 10 to 1
