Why the hate?
I'm fairly new to the forum, but old enough to be the father of most of you. I'll be joining your camp soon with the purchase of a TC in the next few weeks. I currently own an '03 Accord, 4 cyl. It has been the most trouble free car I have ever owned. My question is, why do you foks hate Hondas so much? The way you guys talk, it doesn't sound like a good natured rivalry. Sounds like a very strong dislike. Why is that? Just wondering.
wbwanzer. feel free to smack any of the young ones lol. I dont know why a lot of people hate hondas here. I think because a lot of people really modify them horribly and they look so ugly.
I don't hate honda, I actually like them. Toyota and Honda are both great companies. I know some scion owners hate honda ppl but go check out some websites for honda owners, it's nothing but hating toyota's and us scion's.
everyone has their likes and dislikes bout other companies cars. Like i use to own a Kia spectra..... mine was clean as hell...but i got crap cuz i owned a kia. O well who cares a car is a car....its not about the car it is all about the person who owns the car.....
i like hondas a lot. ive never owned one but i have friends with them and most of them look nice cuz they actually have taste. i hate hondas and all cars in general that look like rice, its just that the civic was a popular car to mod and thus most ricers out there were hondas. i like the actual cars themselves along with toyota

general attitiudes of each community tend to clash.. i don't think it's much about the car but another deeper sign of hatred between people.
how each person acts reflects alot on the rest of the community.
tC owners have been on the recieving end of alot of hatred
(as shown from numerous threads about their cars being vandalized)
some people take that worse than others, and also the reputation of honda owners haven't been recieved too well by society.
hollywood itself doesn't help out much either with movies that encourage poor behavior or taste in modifications.
civics i think will and forever be branded as the principle and foundation for what people deem as ricey cars. poor image indeed.. but it's what people do to themselves.. and what people do to the community.
as a matter of fact last night i saw the worst body kit on a car ever... only to look at it and realize it was indeed.... a civic.
a sad world indeed.. :?

Of course I highly dislike the 'rice' mentality of the honda civic owners. Other than the civic though, hondas are hondas and are reliable cars. I don't like the S2000 however for the same reason that I dislike all hondas.
I just can't understand and really dislike the engineering behind the honda engines. Yes, they are reliable, but why is it that all of there torque and power is in the upper rpms? We spend like 2% of our driving time at or about 4K rpms and that is where all of the power is. The honda S2000 (35K+ car) has the same amount of torque as the tC - 160ish. I just can't understand why they have no torque, and what they do have is all the way up in the powerband.
Motortrend, consumer reports, car and driver, etc all have the same opinion of the S2000 - it is a very ordinary car until it hits like 6500+ rpms where it is a fun car. And the 10K redline is pretty cool, but its all the way up there b/c that is where the power is. Now with the power above 6500rpms, how many opportunities do you have to enjoy it? That bothers me. And it seems that all hondas are made that way - without low end torque! I just think it's retarded. But they ARE reliable cars and well made, just not for me for this reason.

gas mileage and the fact that it is tough on your engine to do that day after day. Of course the fact that it takes a while to get to that 6K mark since there is no low end torque
s2000 is cool, but as a track car - not a daily driver. And that's exactly because of the reason you stated, Spect - low amounts of low-end torque.
That's what I like about the tC. Nice torque down low - exactly where you want/need it for daily driving.
Obviously, our engines are no 6 liter V8's, but for what they are, it's pretty nice.

kind of like me and a guy at work send each other pictures of ford and chevys broke down or on a tow truck!!! btw im the chev guy!!!lol there is always going to be some sort of rivalry i guess. and i dont really think in all acuallty that one brand is better than the other it all comes down to personal preference i guess.
