I'd take a 4 door sedan over a coupe anyday. Waaay more practical and way nicer for people who have to ride in the back seat.

The Avensis doesn't give up anything in styling either. If anything, it might be slightly less generic than the tC IMO.

Chassis would include A, B, and C pillars. It's a unibody, not a body-on-frame design.

totally. the avensis was given a major whack with the ugly stick. but a lot of toyotas have that problem.

you're missing the point. if you wanted practical, buy a damn volvo wagon. if you're buying a car because you need practicality for 4 - 5 regular passengers, then you have no reason to even look at a scion tC. i've had 3 full size adults in my tC's back seat and none of them complained about the interior room, but they also were not back there for hours.

a coupe (or, for that matter, a roadster like my miata) isn't meant to be a "practical" car. it is an expression of automotive art. it is for the enthusiast. the scion tC happens to be that and also can be quite practical.

so if you love 4 doors, well... at least try to get something cool like a mazda6 or scion xB or something with a modicum of style. most 4-door cars are booooorrrriiiinnng.

The car that was introduced today is the IS250.……that is why it has such low hp numbers. Toyota aimed its sights at the BMW 325 with this car, and will also add an IS 350 to compete with the 330.

Toyota is rumored to be designing a coupe version of this car.

The new IS looks so much like our tC I can’t believe everyone can not see the resemblance-

VS.

The new IS rear lights, tall hood, door handles, roof line, rims and the bulge at the bottom on the side of the car are all reminiscent of the tC

The new IS is what I thought the DL would be, without all the wood, leather and hp.

Thank god for that.

okay, first, they look nothing alike. second, you must not be able to read , because 175hp and 295 lb-ft is for the europe only diesel version. we will get 1GR, 2GR, and 3GR engines making about 200, 240, and 280 hp, IS250, IS300, IS350. There will be coupe, convertible and wagon versions of the new IS. :D sweet looking the new IS is!

THe Lexus is nice. I wouldnt want a 4 door tC. I think the tC is made to be a coupe. Design another Scion thats 4 dr, but not a 4 dr. tC.

Not sure who you are talking to, but half the "facts" you wrote are just speculation.

They have only confirmed are getting two engines......for now

They have only released the hp numbers for the diesel and the 2.0 engines

Coupe, Convertible and wagon versions are all merely rumors at this point

If ya look closely at the back it says IS250, but still at 2.5L 175hp is nothing. They are supposed to have a 300 and 350 also.

I think it looks aight, definitely not a Lexus type of styling... I'd take an old IS300 anyday over that. The car looks like a scion line, not a Lexus.

175 is for the diesel

The US is not getting the diesel

We are getting a 201hp 2.5L

We will also get a 3.5L with hp numbers that have not been released.

A 3.0L is only a rumor

The current IS has 215 HP from a 3.0L and gets terrible gas mileage for such little power

I too agree that there are several similarities associated with the look of this IS and the tC.
Flame on. Flamers!
