Default Whyyyyyyy

Don't know how this happened.... drove too work and when I got out I noticed it... looks like key marks but not sure????????

I was going too have it repaired but figured since the other side of the bumper has scratches and dings all over it I might as well get a whole brand new bumper....

...this sucks =(

You don't need a whole brand new bumper, just a repaint.

That looks like it will definitely come right off.

Go and buy some rubbing compound or turtle wax or nu finish scratch remover at the store. Buff it out and then wipe it off with a clean towel and bye bye scratches. This is of course assuming that no paint was removed but from the looks of that picture you should be able to fix this for $5-$10 yourself.

Yeah the picture doesn't show it very well, it's about a half inch deep into the bumper, like someone took something sharp and just really grinded it in there. The only reason I was going too get a new bumper was because of all the scuff marks and scratches along the other side. I just don't want too spend alot of money for them fixing one side of the bumper if i can a brand new one for the same amount or a little more... guess it's time too call around and get quotes. I was hoping I could buff it out but from how deep they are I don't think that's going too be possible. =(

Maybe a bicycle collision. My rear bumper has quite a bit of damage due to 2 wheel scooter damage. Kids like to ride up into my driveway and I am never there with my pellet gun.

A little over exaggeration there...a half inch into the bumper....that is a noticeable difference than what you posted even though we can't see them good they're definitely not a half inch into the bumper.

No need for a new bumper either way, a little bondo and sanding with a repaint.

Major over exaggeration. I just think she's a little upset so it makes everything worse than what it really is.

For comparison sake, here is a half inch scratch

yea theres no way the bumper is half an inch in width.. at most its a 1/8 to 3/16 inch..

And I really think you can buff it out but if you say otherwise then I will believe you.

If there's paint removed then you can't buff it.

If there is no paint removed and it's just markings then it will come off...

Do you have insurance? If so you can maybe report it as vandallism? Depending on your deductible....

Deductible could be $500 (usually people pay $500 or $1000). Either one, it wouldn't be worth it. =/

Not only will she have to pay the deductible but then deal with a possible insurance premium rate increase for her next term since the insurance company may then see her particular area as being unsafe.

Yeah that was a major over-exaggeration LOL Doh! Well I was really planning on trading the car in on something newer in a few months so I guess I will just leave em alone for now... thanks for all the help!

only collision claims raise your rates. something like vandalism is covered under comp and i would hope that deductible would be 250 or under. 1000 deductibles are insane and definitely the wrong way to go.
