Default Will the tc have staying power in such a crowded market?

I am a new tc owner and I couldn't be more pleased.......however, i am wondering about the tc's ability to maintain it's status as a "hot" car. Not that this is a necessity for me to like the car.......but still, I would hate to see it go the way of some other seemingly much-loved vehicles of the past.

Not really sure what you are asking but unless something better comes along for the same value the tc will stay on top. It is currently the second hardest car to find on the lots next to the toyota prius. And I dont think that if something better comes along people are going to start bashing the tc.

I don't see why not... as slammed says, right now it's value. There really isn't anything with the look and styling (06 tiburon is close) either, but for the money, it can't really be beat by much.

It'll turn heads for a while. Don't worry.

There was an article somewhere on this site about how Toyota mentioned that they have no plans to make Scions a high-volume product. At least for now anyway. But all that means is that for every TC on a the lot, there are like 5 Corollas, 5 Camrys and 5 Celica's.

I don't think Toyota will keep that up for too long though...if something's hot and it sells, then you can be sure they will make more to keep up.

I do see more and more TCs everyday...along with Xb's and Xa's. But then you look around and see how many Accords, Civics, Mustangs and Altima's are floating out there, you won't feel so bad.

But hey, the point is that YOU like the car. So what if the rest of America all buys a TC? I love my car and I love seeing other people with it.

I also mentioned this before in another post, but here's a fun game (well, depening on where you live I guess...works well here in FL). Count the number of Mustangs, old and new, you see everytime you go out. Make a game out of it. Double your points if you see 2 or more at a stoplight. I love Mustangs, but everyone an their grand daddy's got one.

By the way, Slammed...you live in Orlando...did you install your own coilovers ,or did you have someone else do it? And if so, how much did they charge you?

unfortanly a car is coming that could knock down the tc
the new civic as you can see it is honda's reply to the tc
and her is a bigger problem aftermarket support
teh tc has get aftermarket for a relativley new car on the market
but compared to the the civic which you can do any dam thing to it
spawp the motor near infinit body kits, turbo kits, stroker kits, and more.
but it would be good compition to the tc which could make toyota make the tc more powerful, or make the tc look cooler

Eh, I wouldn't mind if people went out and bought new Civics over the TC!! More power to them. Go out and buy more Mazda 3's, Ford Focuses and Dodge Neo- oh ,excuse me, Dodge SRT4's...that just means less TCs on the road which means us TC owners shall continue to be few and proud. lol.

Those new Civics are pretty hot looking, but I think Honda basically saw what Toyota was doing w/ Scion and said to themselves, "Crap! Our cars are getting old, we need Gen Y appeal fast!!".

I tell you what, has anyone seen Nissan's "Answer to Scion" proto-types? I can't remember what they called it...it was a little hatchback thing but it looked damn hot. If I were to ever get another small car again, those Nissans would make me think twice about Scion.

the tC is hott but there is bound to be another car that will take its place...after all the tC did take away many civic, tibby, eclips, ect buyers. i was thinking about getting a civic Si (i like hatchbacks) but when i read about the tC and saw and drove the car....i forgot about the Si....tC wins hands down...iam glad i bought it..i love it and ppl still check out my car when i drive by. i think the next car that will take the "hott new car" spotlight will be the new civic Si and that hot lil thing from nissan (it looks like a tC mixed with a cilica)....i love my tC

the used market value for the tc is almost 100% return on investment depending on how many mileage you have. kbb lists my 14k miles tC with no options as much as it cost brand new.

No one is actually going to buy a used one for the price of a new one. C'mon now.

I think the Si and the Nissan Sports Hatch are going to be strong sellers. When will these cars be available?

People that don't want to wait will. People were buying USED Prius for MORE than the cost of a new one, simply because they didn't want to wait.

In America's "instant gratification" culture, I wouldn't be suprised someone could actually MAKE money flipping a low mileage used tC to a person who didn't want to wait on a new one.

The tC is a high demand, low supply car so I'm not saying someone couldn't do it, but I doubt it is routine. The wait for a Prius was up over a year at one point whereas the tC is not even close to that long.

Toyota/Scion is commited to growing their sales slowly. This way they can maintain their car's "hotness" by making them hard to get. Always "one too few."

with the way gas prices are headed, it should be around for awhile......and retain some decent resale value as well IMO.

just to open this discussion back up........seems to me that people are sort of shying away from the tc now.....especially with the new civic out now. the civic has only been out a short time and i see them EVERYWHERE, which is fine with me I guess. But still, I don't see why more people do not notice the value of a scion product.

Because the civic is available as a 4 door and a hybrid. Plus for those people that just need a reliable car for their lives, 30+ mpg normal driving is much better than 24+ mpg normal driving in the tC.

Not to mention the Civic is a much higher-volume product than the tC, so you're bound to see far more of them on the roads.
