Default Window Problems

Well I have a problem, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I have a tc. My driver side and passenger side windows won't roll down. My windows are tinted but they still worked fine up until the ice storm we had a couple weeks ago. The windows havn't rolled down since that storm. I don't know if when the ice melted the water got down into the electrical system of the window and that some how messed it up or what. I just kept thinking they were frozen, but 2 weeks have gone by now, and they still won't work. When I try to roll them down all I hear is this crunching sound. What's your opinion?

A similar thing happened to me a few days ago. After getting on the highway, I wanted a cigarette, so I tried to open the window, but neither wouldn't open . I heard the power window motors running (with a crunching sound from the window) and it looked like the outside rubber was frozen to the window. Finally when I got home, I got small plastic wedge and ran it across rubber/window seal (after having my cigarette of course). The windows rolled down and have been working fine every since.

Huey.....has it been below freezing for the past 2 weeks where you are located? If so, double check to see if the rubber isn't frozen to the window and try running something between the window/rubber with a credit card or something.

i've posted this elsewhere, thought there was a thread on scionlife.. have to find it..

what i was thinking was apply some silicone spray to a towel then roll down the window and apply it to the top edge of the window glass.. that should stop it from ever freezing again ..

this is normal. and yeh, the silicone is the exact thing to do.

it's also not uncommon to blow a fuse. window = frozen = motor has to work too hard = blown fuse. so yeh, take it to the dealer, and/or check the fuses if you like.

yes the highest the temp. has gotten in the past 2 weeks is about 25degrees. i'll try to run something along the window to loosen it up see if that works, thanks for the advice
