Default window up/down auto problems?

went to check out my tC today. to make a long story short, at first the auto features on of the sunrrof and passenger windows weren't working. driver side controls for passenger window wasn't working either. then randomly they just started working.

now i remember reading awhile back about someone who had a similar problem and they were instructed to do something along the lines of rolling it up or down and holding maybe turning the car off or something like that. i think window tints were involved in this thread.

now before any of you start ragging on me for not searching, i already went through4 complete searches and the search feature still sucks. i even went through most of the pages in the tC part of the forum. if anyone knows what i'm talking about, please link me or let me know how to "reprogram" the windows? thanks.

Good question. I am not sure but I do remember another post about this topic. I would think your local Scion service center would also be able to give you more info/fix the problem.

Good luck.

haha nice one! post *****. What's ironic is your whoring posts to get a higher count to inadvertantly give yourself more credibility on the forums for a car you apparently hate.

As far as the problem, nothing I've/anyone on this board has encountered. You may have a wire crossed or frayed inside the door/roof. Either way the dealer will fix it for free. As for how long it takes, who knows.

Cybergypsy has to hate something real bad in order to make herself feel good about herself. So I guess if this forum is giving her the therapy she needs, it beats her paying a shrink.

we had this happen when we took the doorcards off to inspect the speaker area - it seems they must "reset" themselves. i think there is a thread about it. perhaps if the battery was recently connected or something like that, it would do that.

everytime you disconnect the battery, the roof and the windows need to be reprogram. things like holding the buttom for more than 4 seconds. I got the same problem when my security system was installed in dealership, then the roof doesn't work like it use to, I was thinking the dealer mess up my system. then i got it work again by accident. try to see if you can get it work again, normally it should be a system reset issue, and it should not take more than 1 minutes to solve.

You dont even have to disconnect the battery, just disconnect the window switches and it will do it. Don't worry, it will fix itself, it freaked me out after putting in new speakers to find my passanger side window didnt work at all with the driver side switch, and the automatic part of the driver side window didnt work.

To get the driver side auto part to work again I just rolled it up and once it closed I pressed up a few more times.... then go down... hit down a few times when its fully open, and it will work again.

thanks guys. i also found the reprogramming instructions in the manual. the "problem" i had fit the exact description of this thread. i think i accidentally reprogrammed it while checking it out cause it was working correctly before i left. the dealer inspected the problem some more before i picked up my car later on in the day. reason i asked was in case this problem happens later on but now i know that it's not a real "problem", just resetting the controls.

Get some *****? You're telling someone to get some ***** from behind a computer screen with an anonymous nickname? Can you even fathom how stupid you sound?

They have a word for people like you: Troll.

And in this case, I'm guessing that it has both meanings... a forum ***** who seeks negative attention as well as a fat pock-marked cheeto munching beast.

Well.. I guess I could be wrong. Not likely though.

STFU! Stop post whoring. You do nothing but talk ____ on here, and the rare occasion that you try to help YOU ____ THAT UP TOO! Please just do us all a favor, go find a Lotus forum to ____ up.

That being said: I am glad you found the reprogramming instructions. With the auto switches there is timing and safety stuff that can get hosed. An easy fix.

This will be the last time I ever post concerning cybergypsy.

It works like this. Forums are a community. Like a group of friends, a social organization, or a neighborhood, these forums are a place where people of difference come together to create a meaningful discussion on matters of interest.

A community, even if online, is only good in so far as the members contribute positively back to the community. Even dissenting opinions are positive contributions as long as they are meaningful.

Cybergypsy, I did a search for you past posts and you have contributed very little of worth to this community. The few meager positive contributions you have made are vastly over shadowed by the negative (your bad attitude, disrespect for other members, baseless negative comments, etc.)

The moral: you are not welcome here. No one wants you here, because you are a bad member and make the forum worse, not better. If you were to leave, the forums would be a much better place.

As I said, I will not respond to anything concerning this matter ever again, unless it is to retract my statements based on your future POSITIVE contributions. But I do not see that happening.

I feel sorry for you that your life is so joyless that you take pleasure in disrupting the passion of others. Maybe you should reconsider the areas in which you are concentrating your energy and decide if they are really contributing to your personal happiness.

In closing, I refuse to let my enjoyment of this forum be affected by you any longer. Goodbye cybergypsy.

as for the question:
im not saying ur stupid or anything.... it might be an oversight, but just to make sure,
have you shut off the window lock button.
it has happened to me before. i lock the windows so my passenger doesnt throw crap out the window and i forget to unlock it later.

as for CG. she talks all this noise about having driven x amount of cars and whatever but im willing to bet she's stuck in an xA and really craves the tC but cant due to financial issues. Haunted with the regret of buying an inferior car, she comes to crack on the tC to make herself feel like she made a better decision with the initial purchase. She feeds off the minor defects of the tC and the fact that it gets to a lot of you when she does so.
Rather than feeding her denial by responding to her little comments, why not completely ignore the cry for attention. eventually she'll get bored with it and accept the fact that she didnt get a tC.

haha i know what you mean. i probably would've said the same thing but yes, that was the first thing i tried. also 3 dealers/mechanics at the dealership also tried it as well. i figured if the window lock was the problem then the passenger side controls would be inoperable, but it could very well have been an oversight.

either way, i have a FULLY FUNCTIONAL, FLAWLESS [knocks on wood] Flint Mica tC sitting in the garage right now. i'm even happier to find out that the problem i was having wasn't a defect.

Default Using the Manual and the Auto (up/down) feature:

Here's a tip which may help you:
First, it's important to get a feel of when you're using the manual or auto-up/down feature.

For normal operation:
for opening or closing: LIGHTLY push down or pull up the switch. DO NOT push all the way down. Pushing it all the way down will signal the automatic function.

For Automatic operation:
Push the switch completely down or pull it completely up, and then release it. The window will fully open or close. (You will feel a slight stage between the two) To stop the window partway, lightly move the switch in the opposit directiona nd then release it.

The same goes for the moon roof.
For further details, see page 18 and pages 25 of your Owner's Manual.
If you still need further instructions, ask your dealer to give you a demonstration.
