Default Wiring a 2005 tC with Steering Wheel Audio Controls

FYI-A 2005 can be modified to have both steering wheel audio controls and interface to a Kenwood DDXXXX. I did such an install over the weekend.[/b]

Parts needed:
1. Steering wheel with audio controls (from a 2006 and up)
2. Smaller airbag from 2006 and up (the 2005 airbag has longer extensions
for the 2005 steering wheel)
3. Toyota stereo adapter with mini 12 pin connector
4. PAC convertor that interfaces steering wheel controls to the Kenwood DDX8019 or equivalent.
5. 150 ohm resistor

Also, there are comments on the board that a 2005 does not have the wiring harness for the audio controls. That is true, however, that is not an issue. Scion gives you the ability to "pass" electrical signals through a spiral wire or ring installed on the steering column. What this means is that you can add capability. You now have cruise control and horn wiring passing through this ring. Adding the audio controls is not that hard. It means using the same 12 pin connector that Scion uses, only with additional wiring.
