I never said it was a small problem, nor did I dismiss others complaints. I am not sure where you saw that in what I wrote. I simply said that not all tCs have these issues. As a matter of fact, I have yet to personally see one or meet an owner with any of these issues. This does not dismiss the issues in the least, but he was asking about the tC in general. So it is equally unfair for those with issues to assume that all tCs are flawed. Do the issues need to be fixed? Of course. Does it appear that the majority of tCs have the issues? Not in the least. So I wouldnt let them disuade anyone from purchasing the car. I have seen an equal amount of complaints from most cars out there.

Actually my reply was in response to this reply and many you have written for other threads. I was just like you in the beggining, nothing but praise for the car. But that ended real fast. Anyway, just because you dont know anyone with tC problems, that does not mean its not a "big" problem. That is the exact logic you used for people who are complaining about problems. I dont claim to speak for all tCs because I am just one. Just as you are one. But I find it funny that when I call Scion, they know exactly what I am talking about when I mentioned the common problems. I also find it funny that when I call toyota dealerships to tell them about my problems, the tech will say back to me "oh yeah, well my tC is much worse than yours etc". And we end up on the phoen comparing problems. The problems are there. Maybe not for you, so consider yourself fortunate.

So my advice for anyone considering a tC, DONT DO IT!! wait another year until toyota gets their act together. Disclaimer: Personal Oppinion.

2008 TC is the way to go! I can postpone buying a car for 2 years because I have a second car. For someone who wants a car immediately, I dont think there is a better car for the price, options, power and especially looks.

Looks - corolla is out
Reliability - mazda3 is out (even if it is reliable, I dont have valid proof to believe)
Power - civic is out

RSX - I test drove one and it rattles more than a TC, has no power and the seating is very uncomfortable. I would dismiss it in minutes.

As far as the TC is concerned, the interior does rattle. If you have patience, you can get everything fixed by the dealer. My dealer fixed the hatch rattle on mine the third time I took the car in. He kept the car for a whole week. I put 600 miles after the hatch is fixed and it didn't rattle since. The trim around the shift lever creaks when I move it. The head liner was rattling, but it was fixed. Nevertheless, the interior is comparable to a much expensive car. I like the seat cloth, door handles, dash plastic, steering wheel and everything else except the audio cover and the sunroof-walmart-plastic thingie. Oops I forgot to mention the ipod compatibility. It absolutely rocks.

I have not had any paint issues. With 2000 miles on highway, I dont've any paint chips. The paint saga on this forum is completely untrue IMHO. People must be constantly driving behind dump trucks to get the kind of paint chips some people have reported.

Now, the reason I said I would wait for a 08 TC is definitely because of the interior rattles, the only -ve for the TC. Without the interior rattles, the TC is the ideal car for the price. Sometimes, I feel that I should've gotten myself a G35 or the 3-series. For my 'personal' taste, I would rather wait than buy anything else.

For those contemplating buying a TC, hope my opinion helps.

Youre absolutely right. It is a great deal of a car. And some people dont mind a ton of interior sounds. If you are one of those people, then definitely get the car. You will love it. I still "like" my car. But I cant wait until the dealer actually fixes the little annoying stuff. Then I can go back to really liking it again. Anyway, all this talk is for mainly 2005 models. I havent really heard too many 06 complaints just yet. But then again, they just started selling.

with tc owners posting about the rattles, hasn't anyone tried putting foam tape on the bumper stops of the hatch to see if that fixes it? everyone talks about the noise, but doesn't sound like anyone has done anything to try and fix it.. i put foam on mine and no more noise..

well let me know..

Yeah, about some of those options, get it as stock as possible and add on after you purchase it. Alot of those things you can get some where esle cheaper, actually ALL of it.

I did that with my old car and it does help. So far havnt had to with this car though. Im really suprised that more people dont try simple things if its as bad as they say and the dealer is no help. I avoid the dealer unless I have to anyways.

hey aoshi.. got it from the scion technician, said he gets boxes of it from toyota this is their "noise kit".. the foam is about 1/2 to 3/4" thick.. you could also use weather stripping from home depot or lowes (the self stick kind). put some on the stoppers and it will compress (hence of why you have to use thicker than normal).. hope that helps everyone..

I appreciate everyone's input. I am keeping my order of the '06 Tc. I removed most of the options.
-No fog lights(they look out of place, will aftermarket below the headlights,
-No Body Kit(I saw one in person, not to my taste),
-No Subwoofer(for $400 to have no thump or amp),
-Car Alarm-Aftermarket from Toyota-only $30 more than the Scion Security. The Scion Security is a point of entry alarm, the doors must open for it to go off. The windows can be broken, and the doors remain shut, the alarm does not go off. The aftermarket actually has the dual-shock sensors.
-Also getting the car paint protection, well worth it.
-Yes on the Lip Spoiler(add a little somting, somting).
-FLINT MICA. I should have it by Sep 1.

Afterwards, going to add JL Audio Subwoofers, maybe DVD player, and upgrade the suspension.

Everyone is going to have a little different experience with their tC. Personally, I have had no rattles, nor any of the other issues I've heard about. I hope that you enjoy your purchase.

I don't have my tC yet, hopefully it will be here on Friday! But here is how I look at it...My car right now has the most rattle that I have ever in any other car, so I probably wont even notice a rattle in the tC even if I have one. Also Toyota at least the one by me has always done everything they possibly can to help fix problems, they do actually seem to care.

Plus, if the rattle is the only problem with the car, then I cant wait to own a car that the only major problem is a little rattle.

We all have our opinions though, so if the rattle is that big of a deal and you dont think you would be able to fix it ,DONT GET THIS CAR. But if your like me and love everything else about this car, this is a great buy. I personally can't wait

Goodluck with your new tC. I'm sure you will be very happy with your new car if you get one of the good ones. (as oppose to mine).

I would def put some fog lights on. I think it makes the car look a lot better at night.

I have to say that the factory fogs appealed to me MUCH more than others did.. but we all have our own opinions. I have seen a million sets of fogs in the holes beneath the headlights (they look good, but commonplace to me), and the aftermarkets that are small in size just look like christmas tree lights in huge holes to me. I think the factory fogs give a bit of the rally look (no, I dont think the tC is a rally car, so dont go there) which is not as commonplace. JMO though..

Hopefully you wont have probs like I have had with mine . But then if you do , most will tell you its a cheap vehicle anyways and in your case what do you expect , ITS A SECOND YEAR PRODUCTION VEHICLE
