Default Would it be a good idea?

I want to get some HID's in my APT's and I just need to know if having a relay will be necessary? I have a relay harness in my headlamp HID set up already, would a second one be necessary?

1. Would a second relay harness be necessary? Why?
2. I want to have the light output whiter with less blue in my headlamps, would it be safe to just buy 5000k bulbs and connect them to my HID set up originally made for 6000k? I want to change the light output color without buying a full new kit.

I asked these two questions in the HIDExtra thread but I need a more thorough answer other than yes or no. I know the topic has been beaten to death but every thread I looked at, didn't specifically mention anything of my first question.

NO. VRD's + HID's = tremendous amount of glare.

If its anything like regular reflective housing like most cars then I doubt it's as bad as people say. The cars that really get me are the ones that have the reflective housings and get 55W kits. So0o0o..back to my question? :] I really do want to know though.

what tctctc said about the vrd foglights+HIDs, but as far as your low beam goes you can just buy the 5000k bulb to replace the 6000k without having to buy a new kit. if you still decide to get HIDs for the foglight you really won't need to have the relay kit but it's up to you and the same goes for the low beams.

Whatever floats your boat. I just think it's a horrible idea to put HID's in them, nor do I understand why you want to.

1) Yes, so you protect the original wiring harness.
2) Yes, almost all bulbs are plug and play as long as they're the size of the original halogen bulb.

I'm no pro at HID's and I want some more visibility..I don't like it when a Benz or an Infiniti drives next to me and washes out my HID's lol.

Anyway..I'm just guessing here but if I get a bulb with a lower kelvin rating and place that on a kit that has a higher rating..wouldn't the kit overpower the bulb and cause it to eventually blow?

No. The temp/color is determined by the bulb, not the ballast. I asked Tony at Meng Motorsports when my chapter did a group buy on HIDs from them. My girlfriend wanted 12k for shows, but knew it'd imposible to see in rain with those. So she also bought a set of 6k replacement bulbs to daily with.

More light does not always equal more output.

Dang..thanks for the post tctctc..that's crazy lol.

I've been wanting to retro some Camry projectors I have laying around with my APT's ..I just didn't wanna take the chance and mess it up and didn't want to spend $80 on a new pair just for experimental purposes so which is why I just wanted to toss on some HID's in there.

Having a relay kit willl not change color or light output, but it will protect stock wiring (like everybody else said).

So...to be safe, yes I would get another relay.

Am I late on this? lol

to be on the safe side id grab another relay harness that way it protect your stock harness.. check out http://ddmtuning.com/ and i run there slim ballast in my low beams and would recommend the slim ballast for your fogs to and grab a set of 3000k bulbs and be set

Relay harnesses never hurt, I would throw one on. It will protect your investment.
