agreed 100%, friends family and coworkers always ask me why i fix up these little "crackerbox cars" and i think it is just that^

making something thats not supposed to be nice and fast, nice and fast.

its not getting the best 1/4 mile time for me, its getting the looks and responses from people like "wow is that a scion?"

i really have yet to see a "fast" tc. relatively yes they're fast but thats because normally they're 15/16 second cars. I don't think any regular person can make a car like you're describing.

what you're describing is what ptuning or world racing is doing. not what you or i could do

Story of my life. Especially since mine's been widebodied & debadged, people are always staring my car down wondering wtf it is.

fast is a relative term.

i meant making a car faster than it was ever intended to go, not fast like 7 second fast.

Okay... I had to post my 2 cents on this comment above quoted here.... Ok stock you're looking at a 14-16 sec/ 1/4mile. (much of depends on the driver) And with turbos, tuning, etc... you might shave a second or two off that time... but lets put this in perspective. A stock Chevy Corvette, for example of a faster car, runs a 12 sec 1/4mile time. Now thats a full 3 seconds faster than a stock tC...here's the perspective... tC owners can have fun modding...making the car a bit faster than stock...for about 40 grand less. So are tC's the fastest thing on the planet? um no. but we tC owners can have a lot of fun modding and making a fairly quick DD for a much lower investment cost. And you can get decent gas mileage and peformance for a DD that when you get in and take off it makes you grin. :D and people look.
Oh and I have to borrow the line I heard in a recent Cadillac commercial.. " Ask yourself one question...When you turn your car on, does it return the favor? " Everytime I fire up my tC and hear that low growl of my performance exhaust...it does that for me :D

i guess it all depends on what people consider "fast" rythem has a quick ride and bigger plans and there's a guy on ystc.com thats pushin about 450 to the wheels, those are pretty damn quick in my eyes lol. IMO anything over 300whp is fast.

built > bought

^^ thats true... and you still have a smaller investment cost then buying a much faster car. AND you get the added satisfaction that YOU built that much hp into it... not just something "off the shelf" that anyone with more money than sense can just walk into a dealer and buy.

It's not amazingly fast, but it's fast for the pricetag.
/end discussion of that.
