Is your A/C not blowing cold?
**I'm not a mechanic but I know the basics and some advanced stuff**
When I bought my 06 tC it was cold so when I tried the A/C of course it was cold.
Well now were hitting 90 deg days in Texas and the A/C is slacking.
I read up about some TSB about 05's having low levels of R-134. I found this to be true about my 06.
I don't know if this is true about all 06's but mine was about 2 oz low. The TSB calls for 15.2 oz +/- 1 oz.
I got some 134 from O' Reilly auto. I knew the guys there so they let me borrow the ac hose.
If you have to buy a hose you can for about 10 bucks.
I put about half a can in and it was blowing a lot cooler. I don't have a thermometer but it was noticeably cooler. Much more comfortable than it was before.
So basically I saved about 3 hours at the dealer and missed time from work.
The 134 cost me 7 bucks. Well worth it
If you know someone who can do it for your cheap (maybe free) go for it. Its not to hard to do. Just have your vehicle running and attach the hose to the low suction side of the A/C lines.
It will be marked "L" with a gray cap. This hose is close to the strut and firewall. Attach hose to the low side. Screw the can of 134 on to the hose and the suction will suck it in for you
It's best to have a gauge that can read A/C levels handy
**I'm not suggesting you do it yourself because if you put to much 134 your A/C compressor will not turn on and you will get lots of hot air blowing.
It is also very important that you do not allow any 134 to escape while doing this**

most of the AC's are not that cold anymore because they don't use freon like they used to. If you hit the button below the AC it will cycle the inside air and it will get colder and colder.
The AC is still cold but the interior of our cars are so hot that it makes the AC seem weak.

I am so glad I am not the only one..................but I thought my problem was the BLOWING. I feel like it doesnt BLOW. it takes a long time for it to get COLD. Im gonna have to check this idea out. thanks!!!

And this probably isn't advantageous as far as fixing our not-so-cold ACs, but I always "micromanage" the compressor. That is, I am constantly pressing the AC button. I don't like accelerating with the AC on (I hate the power loss, the quicker rev drop (causing jerky shifts since it throws me off).
I usually turn on the AC (if I really, really need it... I usually do not use AC if at all possible) when cruising at final speed OR when my foot is off the throttle (free power).
Plus, its the worst when you're in the middle of your launch, and the compressor suddenly kicks on, pulling your revs low all of a sudden and then you bog down and narrowly avoid a stall
So yah, I micromanage. Many of my passengers hate it (why don't you just turn on the AC?!) but hey, it's my car. I'll even open the roof shade, and make it 3x hotter
I have an 07 and I bought mine in November so I never used it until this summer and it is not as cold as I would expect a "new" car to produce. Has anyone talked to a dealer about it? If so what did they say?
