Forget watching. You'll do that working on the course. Get in there and drive!

Haha... I would recommend watching/riding along for your first event. You get a real good idea what to expect as far as participation and how the event works as well as what you're going to be doing to your car. I did that my first time and felt a lot more comfortable for my first race.

We have two novice schools each year here, so you get about 12 runs with instructors in the car with you, plus ride alongs with them. Great to do if you have one in your area.

saturday was my first time every hearing about autocross... i raced... 1st run, i did what i felt comfortable doing, 2nd run i did what the car felt comfortable doing. 3rd run, i went out there to go at it... (didnt get a second set because it started to rain) the race went on, but i didnt feel comfortable doing it in the rain...

on a side note, my front strut bar was delivered this morning!!! (2 days after ordering)
and my sway bars will be here tomorrow (3 days after ordering) +1 for www.wesellcarparts.com

how stiff is the stiffest setting on the hotchkis sway bars?
my gf drives a S2000 so im used to a pretty stiff feeling car... just not in my scion...

No novice school here but there was a novice walkthrough that was nice. Picked up time on every set of runs. First one was conservative. Last run my tires didn't stop screaming until I hit that final straightaway. Good fun!

Did I hear mention of not getting runs cause of rain??? You gotta talk to your event master! We run if it is 5 degrees, 105 degrees, snowing, raining, sleeting, or dry. We have run events this year with so much rain you can hardly see, not much fun when you are working, but a blast when you are driving. And with the Avons on I can run almost the same times in the wet :D The only time we have paused an event this year was due to lightning close by. But we have run on a day when winds averaged 50mph sustained and 65 mph gusts..... I would be ____ed if we had to stop for rain!

I dont care really if I get put into a tough class. If I decide to go with 8 inch rims and 245's... I will. I just enjoy running and pushing the car. I am mostly in it to keep beating my own times. The competition is fun though.

Our STS class is super competitive. Here is an example of one of our sts days at the track:

01 Acura Integra GSR
00 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS
01 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS
90 Honda Civic Si
89 Honda Civic Si
01 Acura Integra
98 Dodge Neon R/T
01 Acura Integra GSR
01 Volkswagen GTI
05 Scion tC
03 Honda Civic Si
90 Honda Civic Si
00 Ford Focus ZX3
96 Subaru Legacy
97 Honda Civic EX
01 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS
01 vw GTI

Pretty good competition to say the least. A couple of the civic guys and the neon driver are awesome to watch, very good drivers that have been at the sport for a good while that I know of.
Thats right STS is kinda tough i was in CSP for awhile if you know that a tough one, but like you said its all for the fun an to get better in beating your own time.. Plus its on the driver..

My class..
01 Acura Integra GSR
90 Honda Civic Si
89 Honda Civic Si
01 Acura Integra
98 Dodge Neon R/T
01 Acura Integra GSR
03 Honda Civic Si
90 Honda Civic Si
00 Ford Focus ZX3
97 Honda Civic EX

Here are videos from the June 10th event at SGMP. The first one is the rx-7 video (and the most exciting thing to happen). My runs are number 19 and 20 on that page under the files with "redish tc" in the title. Not as exciting but you get the idea.

Not sure what a shop would charge you. The rear is cake, the front will take a bit more work since you have to lower the subframe a bit.

Enjoy the new parts and happy bday.

Wow, just put on my Azenis 615's last night. They are completely ridiclious. They just keep sticking through the turns. I haven't found their limits yet, but hopefully I will at the autocross Sunday...

Default Scion Only Autox Class in Richmond, KY

Our store will be sponsoring a local SCCA autox event on July the 29th. As part of the sponsorship I have talked them in to running a Scion only class.

The class will be PAXed to allow xA, xB, and tC drivers to compete against each other regardless of performance mods. When it is all over, we will be handing out 11 trophies and 5 prizes to the top Scion Drivers.

We are working on the the idea of paying the entry fee for the 1st 15-25 people that enter in and compete in a Scion.

I will be competing in my HS tC but I won't be including my self in the trophy and prize competition. However I'm thinking about having a "Prize of un-speakable value" for anybody in a Scion that can beat my fastest time.

Let the smack talk begin.

Call or email if you are interested. I will need to know what performance mods you have done to your Scion in order to have everybody PAXed correctly. 859-619-0191 or jsexton@scionsouth.net

You guys are seriously giving me an itch to go autocrossing. i autocrossed in a mazda 3 at a mazda promo event a few years ago, but that's my only experience with it. i need to find some events around orlando. actually, i need to fix my oil drip, get new tires, then find some events around orlando.
