18x8 wrapped with 235/40...

What is the lowest drop before having rubbing problems?

Anyon who has this combo, can you provide pictures of your drop on this...

I have TRD springs and plan to to drop even more with H-techs...any suggestions?

I roll with everything the same except for my wheels are 18x7.5 with 45 offset. If I drop it lower than 1 inch, then the wheels risk rubbing. I plan on rolling my fenders and dropping it about another half an inch to 3/4 inches....

You'll be cutting it close....I can tell you that

Default comparison...

DP,

YOURS

wheels: 18 x 7.5
tires: 225/40
spring drop: TRD springs = avg 1.25 in

wheel+tire width = 225 mm
tire height = 225 mm x 0.40 = 90 mm

MINE:

wheels : 18 x 8
tires: 235/40
spring drop: TRD springs = avg 1.25 in

wheel+tire width = 235 mm
tire height = 235 mm x 0.40 = 94 mm

DIFFERENCE:

wheel+tire width = MINE - YOURS = 235 mm - 225 = 10 mm

tire height = MINE - YOURS = 94 mm -90 mm = 4 mm

QUESTION:

When you said lowering more than 1 inch, there is risk of rubbing. Well are you actually rubbing with your wheels with the TRD drop which is more than 1 inch?

For my case with my TRD springs and wheels, how much more you advise to add to the 1.25 in drop i already have?

I have 17x8 +48 wrapped in 245/40 and optimal is about a 1.5" drop based on sight. I'm probably going to do an inch, maybe 1.25 but I'm getting coilovers so it's full adjustable.

I don't think you should drop any lower. You're running the risk of rubbing already.

I would take pictures, but another member of Scion Evolution has my digi. I'm supposed to get it back on Sunday. If you want to wait till then, maybe it'll help clear it up.

The biggest problem is that your wheels are too far out and run the risk of rubbing the fenders. I run coilovers so that's how I know I'm dropped 1 inch. There's about a 1 inch gap between my wheel and fenders b/c even with -1 camber, if I were to hit a speedbump or something it would just barely smack the inside of the fender.

If you're set on the wheels, then I would just buy them and see after that....

Or just wait for my pics to see what I'm talking about

i have a set of 18" Bronze Enkei RSVs that are 7.5" wide w/ a 35mm offset .. and tires that are Nitto NeoGens that are 225/40ZR18s .. i dont have any rubbing in the rear (some negative camber) .. i dont rub against the metal in the front .. i hit the plastic liner inside the wheel well whenever theres a decent sized dip or bump in the road .. my springs are Tein H-techs .. which is on average a 2" drop .. i also rub if i hit a bump taking a sharp turn (obviously the wheel well is sittin right on top of the tire .. heh) .. im thinkin of gettin Tein Basic Coilovers to remedy this problem so my suspension doesnt jump so much .. and i can also change the ride height to a more optimal setting .. right now my car looks slammed .. which is a really nice look .. so im gonna try to keep it as close to that look as possible .. cuz i really like it .. heres a pic .. any suggestions to help w/ the rubbing on the inside of the wheel well??

how about a suggestion that would not cost me alot of $ .. like buying new rims or buying different tires .. the rims i got only came in a 45mm offset or a 35mm .. nothin in between .. i got the 35 cuz i thought it would clear cuz alot of people on here said they would .. im not gonna go thru the process of returning or sellin these ones to get diff ones w/ a diff offset .. im gonna work w/ these .. its not a huge issue .. and i think i could take care of it w/ the coilovers .. (i know thats a big $ item too but it serves more purposes) .. i also think i can modify the wheel well a little to accomidate

the easiest route for you would to probably roll the fenders or modify the actual wheel well to make it work....

So does it rub now at all?

I am thinking of going w\ 18X8.5 with 35mm offset on 235 40 18s.

It is lowered on TRD springs
