Default about the tokico shocks and strut

i was just wondering if i have to cut anything from my stock ones to the new ones or do i just replace it..cuz when i was looking online at the tokico shock and strut it seems to me that it doesnt have the mounts at the bottom of them..its probably my imagination but answers would be awsome

The tokico shocks are direct replacements for you OEM shocks and struts. You just have to put the bump stop from your stock shock on the Tokicos.

Yup, direct replacement just use stock bumpstops. I cut mine in half though(bumpstops that is) with the H&R sport springs and i love it. Looks good and rides great. I may go to coilovers eventually for tracking my car but we shall see.

the tokico shocks are shorter in height... made for lowering; whereas stock shocks arent made for lowering. I'd recommend to get aftermarket shocks wen lowering, just because its the right thing to do

and it makes the ride a bit stiffer, stock shocks are too bouncy and on the highway at good speeds feels loose, Tokicos is night and day In my opinion

great info, thanks.

how much of a drop with the tokico shocks and struts ?

and how much more when you add the springs ?

Am I correct to assume springs are not necessary to further improve the stability provided by the tokicos ?

the drop is determined by the springs you get. shocks are just there to absorb the bumps in the road (mostly). everything comes in a package when you drop. having aftermarket lowering springs and stock shocks dont work because the stock shocks are not made for lowering. When you lower a car with just springs, the aftermarket company has to make the springs shorter in height to lower, AND stiffer. The reason to make them stiffer is that since you are lower, the distance from the top of the tire to the fender well is shorter. to keep the tire from rubbing you have to increase spring rate. now wen you add the aftermarket shocks, they are actually shorter in height too; hence you're supposed to get aftermarket shocks with lowering springs. if you dont, your stock shocks will blow out quickly and the ride will be bouncing. also the reason people cut the stock bump-stops in half is because everything is shorter.

sorry for the long descrip. haha it might not be that coherent, pretty late at night....

thank you so much for the information.

very helpful indeed.

i suppose a decent package you be the hotchkiss set with the tokicos.

what is the adjustment range for this component group ?

i'm not looking to go lower than 1".

the rims i'm considering might be 19x7.5 or 19.85 with 235 tires (40-45 offset)

if thats all the drop you want dont get hotchkis springs! Get TRD lowering springs. But i would suggest coilovers with wheels that big. I have 3 friends with 19s and two with coilovers and you have more control and i would want that with such big wheels. i think the third one is on tien h-techs.
