I am looking for some advice on what to do. My tC is my daily driver and I do not intend on tracking the car. I am looking for some better cornering and stability. I am also want to lower the car a little bit(<1.5"). I want to maintain as much ride quality as possible. I am thinking of springs, shocks/struts, and rear sway.

With that said here are my questions.

What would be the best setup for MY needs?

Is there any reason I should go coil overs instead?

Go with the Hotchkis Setup. Comes with struts, springs, and sway bars. Perfect drop, good reliability and decent cost through TRDSPARKS.COM

 

^^ Either that or go full TRD in which the springs are a 1.25 inch drop :D..either or can be purchased at trdsparks.com for some very good prices.

Front sway wouldn't be too aggressive for a daily if trying to keep ride quality?

 

from what i hear, just having a trd rear sway will do the trick for daily driver setup. the hotchkis sways are a little too thick unless your takin it on the track, and with them, the front sway needs to be put on the softest setting. id say, save some money and just go tot he trd rear sway. its what im planning on for my DD

 

I say for your needs, go full TRD. The shocks/struts, spring, and sway set up feels nice. It will give you a dramatic change over stock, and still allow you to keep it a DD.

 

yup full trd or hotchkis spring, trd shocks, trd swaybar for a lower drop.. if you're planning on wide tires or bigger wheels lets say 19s then you'll be safe with trd springs

Yes. The TRD's aren't as low as I would like, but I like to keep my front lip intact, so they will stay on. I also have the TRD front strut bar, which I heard may not do much, but it was on the car when I got it.

 

i agree with everyone if your looking to keep it a DD TRD all the way.. i have the struts and the springs and im really happy with them. the rear sway is next on my list

Go with hotchkis springs, tokico struts, and trd rear sway. This is the setup I have minus the tokico struts as I am waiting to put them on. You save a ton of money over the trd package and its perfect for a DD...

 

the hotchkis springs have a very soft spring rate which worries me a little. the rates are just about stock. oh yeah and the larger drop in the rear worries me.

Also I looked up how much the hotchkis springs, tokico shocks, and trd rear sway would be and it is $12 cheaper then the TRD setup and that doesn't include shipping. For $12 more I would think it woiuld make sense to just go with the already matched up TRD setup.

 

you should worry more on front.. the rear fenders can be rolled but the fronts will always rub with the liner if its too low plus will rub your front lip.. but yeah you worry less on trd, hotchkis drop looks better though

 

i was just worried that they would be too similar to stock. I have stock rims and will be keeping it that way so not worried about dropping it that much. I am going for better handling so dropping it that much where I would have to worry about that is counter productive.

 

From what I hear and understand going more then 2.0" drop is the most you want to go, after that it is counter productive. I put H&R springs and TRD rear sway, drop was 1.5 front and 1.3 rear. It is my DD and using the stock struts and tires the ride is firm but not harsh.

 

for your needs i would go with this setup:

TRD springs
TRD struts/shocks
TRD rear sway bar

IMHO, can't go wrong with that setup for a DD.

if you want to go a tad bit lower (still won't sacrifice ride quality, in fact might ride better), than go with..

Tein H-Tech springs
Tokico HP struts/shocks
TRD rear sway bar.

From experience with most of the suspensions on the market...

H&R Sport springs - Provides the drop you're looking for but the spring rates are progressive. This preserves stock comfort (seems almost softer at small bumps), but will get stiff if you hit a big enough bump. This is honestly the best of both worlds for the daily driving aspect.

The Progress rear sway bar will greatly compliment the springs. It has a 3 way adjustability so you can basically set it up to your likings.

This setup is cost effective, reliable, comfortable, and affordable.

I've run countless suspensions on my cars, along with MANY different customers. Hands down, haven't heard any spring likes more than the H&R sport.

We also make replacement end-links for the front and rear. The bushings are much harder and provide more direct road feedback, and they're much more durable than stock.

We actually snapped a couple stock endlinks and the new ones helped a lot.

trd or porgress springs and progress rear sway bar.

i havent heard personally about HR springs for the tC but they are a good company overall.

i would hold out on the shocks until you need them.
