what did godhand do? he just races the way he feels most comfortable and just drives as smoothly as possible.
also, remember, that when racing, it is a chain reaction as your take turns faster and faster.
you do one run normal, but on your second run, you take a corner faster, well now you have to adjust, because for the next corner, your going faster and your line is different so you have to constantly adapt to your line as it changes.
ofcourse i can only speak from my video game experiences, i really need to actually go and race some auto x myself before i can tell you how to drive...
Auto x is quite different that road racing or any other type of driving really. You do a lot of things differently and you line up your corners a little different in many cases. Makes it fun :D
No license needed other than a driver's license. Go to www.scca.com and click on the Solo link and there should be a "find a region near you" or something where you can look up your local region. Find the local website, check out their schedule and show up with about $30 and be ready to have fun.
Yep. I really like our local club. $30 per year, but we get $10 off most events. So it more than pays off to join if you autox much. They hold very well run events with great tracks. One of the guys that goes to nationals each year usually designs a few courses based off of those tracks.
Most events (at least around here) run $30 - $40. Tons of fun, teaches you some very precise driving and gives you a chance to drive hard without endangering others or going to jail
When you start, just start with an open mind, forget your ego and learn from the experienced guys. Take instructors with you when offered, it pays off a ton. You will find that it is a bit different driving wise and you will learn a lot if you keep doing it. Our club puts on a couple of novice schools each season which are well worth the $50 to attend.
