Default Anyone know anything about air setups?

One of my good friends knows a guy that does air ride setups professionally. He's know in the euro scene and even did the Fahrenheit gti's air. I can get him to give me a good price and make me a custom setup once i get the money. But im not sure if i have to have a coilover setup before or can i just have aftermarket struts and shocks? My buddy said you don't have to have coils but it does allow you do have it be more adjustable. But i just want to make sure. Any ideas? And no i don't want to save for easy streets kit just because i can get it a lot cheaper this way.

What price range is he talking for this "custom" set up?
What struts and shocks is he thinking of using?
Manual or digital control?
What tank?
What valves?
Where is he going to mount everything or do you have to install it?
What size air line because this affects performance?

Another thing to consider what kind of warranty will it have?

I know you want to save some money but keep in mind the Easystreet kit already has 10,000 miles on their set up and will have 4 or 5 Beta test kits going out soon. The Beta test kits will come back for tear down analysis before the kit hits the market. A custom kit does not have that development time into it.

All things to consider.

Well price would be around 2000.
I would have to figure out struts and shocks or coils. thats my question.
Digital
5 gallon tank
i dont know what brand valves but id prolly stick with 8
He works in orlando so id drive up there and install it. The way we would prolly do it is to take out the spare tire and make a custom box for the tank so its sunken in the box. Good clean setup.

No the air setup will come with their own air shock/air bag and I don't think you can have a coil and air setup at once. It'll give you the VIP look though that's sweet.

Yes you can have the air bag mounted on a coilover body, many people have done it.

Do I understand this right, that is $2000 plus the cost of coil overs or struts in front?

Adjustable struts would be $500-$1500 depending on brand and coilovers are $100-$2000.

Makes the Easystreet kit worth it for approximately $3000 especially if there is an introductory price. Also would be easier to install.

If you do build your own kit get adjustable struts and shocks for better performance tuning. I think coil overs would be too much money since you would only really need the fronts and the shocks.

Yes it is. i dont think the easystreet kit would be 3000 im guessing 4000 from the guy i talked to from their company. So i figured if i bought struts and shocks with the custom setup it would be around 2700.
Just wanted to know if i NEED coilovers or if i can just do it with aftermarket struts and shocks.

You talked to Steve aka Scionpro about the kit. I have been helping him consult with Easystreet about the tC kit. That is why I went and met the engineer and drove it. They wanted my feedback on it.

I recommend being patient and waiting for the Easystreet kit if you want performance and air. If you only want to go low at a show and do not care about ride quality go with a universal kit now.
