Default Brake Failure: Manufacture defect or due to accident?

Trying to reach everyone about this so c&p FTW:

Right, so I have a 2006 tC and the wife has a 2007 tC.

One year ago, I was rear ended by a truck going in the 20mph-40mph range. Ever since then, my brakes under extreme braking conditions completely fail (lose all pressure). In a turn, while braking, the brakes will grind.

I thought this was odd. I knew it wasn't normal, but figured it might just be my car... until recently.

My wife got rearended by the Comcast van (30-50mph range) roughly two months ago. It got repaired. I drove her car today and found that her brakes are acting exactly like my brakes. Grinding in a turn. Her car is a daily driver.

I'm bringing them in to Tejas Toyota. If it was just one tC, I would right it off as a weird coincadence. But it's happening to both my tCs who've both had the same type of accident.

We may have a manufacture defect on our hands.

Anyone have a similar problem due to similar accidents?

It would be an OEM defect if it happened to your cars BEFORE an accident.

Yes, well, as far as I know the brakes aren't suppose to fail because of a rear end collision, no matter the speed.

How is that NOT a manufacture defect?

Because there is the possibility that a brake line got pinched.

The accident will always be on that vehicles record, which means they can blame anything they want to on that accident.

It sounds like the ABS is going on. damage to the ABS system could have easily happened during a crash.

I don't know if it's a manufacture defect or not. That's why I have a question mark on it

I'll be brining both cars to Tejas to get them checked out.

I had to get on the brakes to stop my car from slamming into the Van infront of me. I popped the clutch, so I was moving forward when the truck hit me. Took some of the inertia with my car. But I had to floor my brake pedal as to NOT slam into the van infront of me.

As far as my wife's accident. I wasn't there. I have to assume since she was sitting at a light, and her car is automatic and she did not see the Comcast van coming at her and not stopping, that she was indeed on the brake, but not hard. I also have to assume when her car got hit, she immediately slammed her foot onto the brake (as she was pushed into an 4-way intersection).

ur not gonna get anything from toyota. like it was said u got in a accident so theyll just blame it on that.
inspect the pads and rotors for wear and/or damage and replace the brake lines and have them proffesionally bled.

Check the brake lines at the rear brakes. The rubber ones are VERY thin on the inside, that even a slight squeeze can cut them off.

I got rear ended 2 years ago and I didn't have any brake issues. Got hit by a saturn who was doing about 30 when he hit me, but he stopped on my muffler, causing very minimal damage to the back of my car (muffler, dented midpipe, cracked rear bumper and his car was totaled).

The brakes did not "fail" in your accidents, you got rearended. Now if the car was new and you hit the brakes and had nothing / slammed into somthing then it would be a defect.

Now you might want to call the people that hit you and find out why the brakes failed on their cars

were telling you what to do but your refusing to listen.
why would you ask for help if you refusing to take it.

here is my last attempt to help you.

the bodyshop that you got your car repaired at should have taken the car for a drive when the work was completed, and they should have noticed the issue with your brakes.

if anything, you should take it back to the shop and bring this issue up to them and they should be forced to fix it, i highly doubt you will get insurance money for this though because the accidents are already over with and the cars have already been fixed so you can not prove this was a result of the accidents.

Jesus christ and a half.

Tejas Toyota Collision Center did the repair work on my wife's car from the accident.
They have a lifetime guarantee on their work. Fixing the brakes is apart of bring the car back up to driving condition.

They (Tejas Toyota Collision Center) also fixed my tC when I had the front end damage to my car.

I didn't ask for help. I outlined my situation and then asked this:
