Default Brakes

I was just wondering what are the best brake pads out? Also how long should the stock pads last? I have 36000 on my stock ones and it looks like i have about three sixteenths left on the front and same on the rear. Is this normal?

Thanks for all your help.

I have 60k on my stock pads. I'm going in tomorrow for my 60k maintenance and have a feeling I'll have to get them replaced though. They've been great but they just don't have the quite grip they used to.

it could be normal... tell us a little bit about how you drive...

if you drive agressively you will brake more....

if you go through stop and go traffic you will brake more....

etc.

I try not to drive too agressevily I down shift often as possible, like around 3000 rpms or so.

Im not in very much traffic Martinsburg is not very big. I am from the 'sticks' originaly though about an hour away from any grocery stores and stuff.

I do like to run through the gears and race once and a while.
How can you resist in the TC?

^ Given my experience driving >30yrs, I feel 36k miles from a set of pads is nothing to complain about. As others have indicated, some people get more miles from a set than others, but I'd personally be very pleased with 36k.

Wow, I'm going on 10K and I feel already I have to get mine replaced. I notice tremendous brake fade and they squeak all the time. I also noticed around 500 miles, the rotors were making whooshing noises, like the brake pad was being brushed against the rotors, braking made the noise louder. Is this a possible defect/warranty issue?

I drive an automatic and my brake fluid was low around 40k. My pads were pretty much gone or had very little pad left. I bought some axxis deluxe plus and theyh work great !

I just have to say that brake pads are cheaper than motors.... just food for thought!

yeah, i replaced my pad around 35k. use this as the perfect time to upgrade the pads and rotors. i got the dezod motorsports brake package which includes axxis ultimate front and rear pads and powerslot front and rear slotted rotors, and they are awesome. if i had the money i would have gotten the stoptech stage 2 upgrade which includes pads and rotors like the dezod package, but also has dot 4 brake fluid, and stainless steel front and rear brake lines.

if you decide to get upgraded brake, don't take the bed-in procedures lightly, you seriously have to do them. i didn't do mine properly, so now when i give even the slightest braking at over 60 to 70 mph i get alot of virbration through the pedal and steering. it is nothing to worry about, i can take my hand off the wheel and the car will continue going straight, but well, it is kinda annoying. they also squeak alot but they have saved my @$$ from both close call near mis collisions and when my radar detector gives me the heads up for the police down the road.

paul, if you are reading this, I LOVE YOUR BRAKES! THEY HAVE SAVED ME SOOOO MANY TIMES!
