Default Caliper Covers

Not sure if this belongs in this forum, but does anyone here have these on their car or ever had anything similar?

They look like a really good alternative to painting your calipers, but I'm wondering if they'd cause any issues at all.

I've heard of these before, that's a pretty steep price though? Compare that to the $14.99 that I paid for Duplicolor's caliper painting kit at Pep Boys (they have silver, if that's the color you'd like). Anyway, just thought I'd throw it out there. Happy birthday man!

Nah. Buy upgrades that will actually improve braking with that money.

I was just thinking the same thing when I read his post.

Those are some outrageous prices.

Outrageous, yes when compared to a 15 dollar bottle of Duplicolor. In my mind, these would look better powdercoated then a set of spray painted calipers. I've seen some pics with people who've painted there's and yes they do look good, but these covers would be a much cleaner look. Ideally I'd spend the $1000 it takes to get StopTech BBK, but I can't afford that. I'm just wondering if there could be any drawbacks to getting these, ie causing the calipers to corode.

How about decreased thermal conductivity to your wheels and hub from the caliper, a fire hazard from "VHT double-sided stick tape" and overall make you look like a 'tard?

for the carbon fiber $300 buy yourself the Stoptech Stage 1 kit and thank yourself for actually increasing the performance of your brakes. OR go for their stage 2 kit for slotted/drilled rotors. Much hotter look than a chunk of aluminum taped to your caliper....

Stage 1 - http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=1141
Stage 2 - http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=1142

You might be more at home with these....

Thanks for the info. Since I'm not one to paint my calipers or purchase something like this to give the appearance that I actually spent the money necessary for a BBK, I don't plan on doing either. I'd rather be out a grand having bought a StopTech kit, then pretend. Plus until I do some severe racing, I'll save myself the money and work on getting my car fast enough to the point where I'll actually need a BBK. Powerslot rotors are a definite improvement in looks and actual functionality and cost as much as these. Just figured I'd bring a different product to the attention of people looking for a way to change the appearance of their car.

And do you know if it's possible to upgrade from a Stage II kit to the BBK?

Our calipers cannot be used with stock sized rotors but its good to have the stage 2 kit components out back to round out the car. Our front BBK replaces everything including the calipers, rotors, lines and pads so nothing that is stock is maintained.
