probably not because the civic is still a bit lighter, doesn't have a glass roof, and comes stock with lsd. and i would guess that the stock tires are better too.

Agreed. I have the complete list of TRD suspension and handling parts, and the car handles like a dream. It feels perfectly planted and perfectly in balance. When it was just stock, it felt floaty and unresponsive.

lower center of gravity, possibly better weight distribution.

An si is lower the a TRD's tc? wow, thats pretty low for a stock car.

You might be right about the weight distribution.

Well:

"With the help, our Scion weaves through the slalom course at 66.3 mph. Fast, but not quite as fast as the Civic Si's 67.8-mph run through the same set of cones. "

Thats with a strut bar only.

I would have to say, a full trd suspension TC CAN handle as good, if not better then a stock si.

i said lower center of gravity. not lower riding height. weight is a serious component when it comes to how well a car can handle, but even more important is the weight distribution, as in, where is the weight on the car.

one major disadvantage of the tc is that it has a roof made of heavy glass, bracking to open, close and support a sun roof, and it also has an additional cross member for more structural rigidity.

now, because all this additional weight if on the roof of the car, the center of gravity on the car is higher.

think of it this way, if i have an suv, and i put 300 pounds of weight on the roof rack, that weight would make the suv really top heavy, and more likely to tip over, whereas if i put it inside in the back of the suv, the weight would be lower, thus the weight would keep the center of gravity in the same place, also, the weight over the rear tires would keep then planted for more traction.

now, both the tc and the si have about 2/3rds of their weight over the front wheels, which is pretty much a constant among all ff cars, but because the si's roof is made out of regular steel, it is lighter than the tc, and it doesn't have all that weight making it top heavy.

so one way to alleviate this handling malady would be to put on a kaminari cf roof.

I believe you. The Si doesnt handle THAT much betetr then a stock tc.

A trd tc could handle as well, if not better.

Nice to know!

informative post for sure, but according to edmunds, an si only is 1.4 MPH faster in the slalom then a tc with a strut bar.

A full trd tc would have to as fast, if not faster, glass roof and all.

So let me get this straight..

When people like edmunds state that a sc tc would lose against an si, they are wrong. But when they say something the community agrees with to back up a tc owners claim, they are correct.

Never fully trust testing made by companies. The professional drivers hired don't own the cars therefore have a limited amount of time to get "use" to the car they are driving.

Sure.... The testing was just confirming what I previously thought.

That a TRD TC can keep up with, if not be faster then a stock Honda Si.

End of story.

^Wrong.

The only way the story would be ended is if a trd tC and a stock Si (which i think is personally retarded to begin with, why are we comparing a modded car to a stock car? Yes the Si cost more, but modded vs. stock..your not gaining much saying your modded tC is faster than a stock Si..) settled it on the track and compared times. Otherwise this debate can last forever and go in circles.

Personally if i were to choose between the Si and tC as a track car to build, i would pick the Si. The tC is a great commuter car, yes the engine has potential when boosted, but just not my cup a tea.

I would say it would be close, but again the debate is never settled until proven by two owners.

With all of that said, i'll take a trd tC on.
