Default Correct my thoughts.

Okay, Scion Life, so basically when I get to any speed over 25 mph, my car starts to shake.
Seems like it's only coming from the front end.

Along with that, it varies almost.
On some occasions it's more intense at higher speeds..sometimes the car doesn't really shake at all at high speeds.

A little recent history:

The high way I take to work everyday has been under construction the past 2 weeks or so, and about a week ago, I didn't notice a HUGE sign that said BUMP. So I went over it, but obviously too fast although at an angle, and it felt like my whole daaamn car was going to crack in half.
I immediately noticed a change in my alignment; my steering wheel had the common pull to one side, along with the car leaning as well.

Okay, so I was narrowing it down to a few things I thought might be wrong.

*I'm trying to test my knowledge, btw.
I hate having to rely on the forum every time an issue pops up.

- Wheel is off balance?
- Wheel is bent (wasn't too sure about this. it's not a constant shaking.) ?
- Alignment got FCUKED UP!

Lemme know.

Wheel AND alignment. I'm basing this off of me installing tires on rims for quite some time and many people don't realize they have a bent wheel because it "looks" OK but they blame it on the tire balancing. Alignments will certainly go out of whack when you hit hard bumps at funny angles and high speeds. Get the alignment done and worry about the rim later if you don't see any obvious damage.

Do you think an alignment should pretty much cure the vibrations if the rim happens to be bent minimally?

The only reason why I didn't think it might be the rim being bent is because it only does it at various times.
I remember when my wife's rim got bent it was constant.

Not true in all cases but I would definitely get an alignment first and then if it goes away, keep an eye on your treadwear patterns to see if the rim is bent.

Okay.
I might just switch to my stocks for the time being to see if that changes also.
Well in all reality, I'm sure it will change a lot considering what ever is wrong will be with the rims that are currently on.

If anyone else has any input, please let me know.

Thank you very much rangerryda.

I will be getting an alignment as soon as possible, a long with getting everything else checked out.

No problem. It's a good idea to switch to the stocks for now because that way you can thoroughly inspect the wheels for damage since they are off the car and if there is any funny tire wear, it'll be happening to the stockers Hope all goes well!

Okay..somewhat good news.

I switched out the rims today.
The car does not shake anymore.

I looked at the rims..no noticeable dents.
So I'm going to have a buddy balance them out to try and correct the issue.

If you have access to one, get it on a high speed balancer to check for bent rims easier. If he has to counterbalance them, they're probably bent. I've spent an hour on a rim on a brand new lexus trying to figure out why her rim wouldn't balance... then she told me she decked a curb head on once. End of story. How is the alignment? Still jacked?

check the weights on the inside of the wheel. one might have fell off when you hit that bump.
