Default dealership suspension quote

i got all of my trd suspension parts and this is what the dealership wants to charge me to put it all in.

i was shocked to find that it costs more than the install cost of a supercharger or a lsd.

297:front shocks
356: rear shocks
99: lowering springs (says that may or may not be included in the cost of the shocks
148.50 for rear sway bar
29.70 for the strut tower brace

930.20 is the grand total.

sounds expensive and i know i got to pay to play.

the plus's are that my dealership will give me a loaner car while they are doing this, and since these are all trd parts (except for the strut tower brace is dc sports), the dealership will cover all these parts with the trd 1 year 12,000 mile warrenty. is that just about worth it, this costs more than the parts themselves did.

I believe the only plus to getting the dealer to install the part is that it will be tacked on to your existing warranty or the TRD warranty which ever is greater. If it is not installed by a dealer the TRD warranty is the only one that applies (parts only). All this is if I interputed it correctly.

Taken from TRD Spraks website : Click me

I does seem a little steep to me. I would shop around, unless you have alot of your warranty left. Sorry I ain't much more help.

You're getting completely ripped off in my opinion. Find a local shop to do it.

Those prices are completely bogus. Try other Scion dealerships, it shouldn't be too hard to find one that charges a more reasonable price. The springs & struts shouldn't be more than $250 total for installation at a dealer. The strut bar and rear sway are so quick & easy, you might consider doing those yourself.

hmm, i'm thinking i should start offering help to do these type of installs. that's totally a rip off and even in the slight chance that you do run into problems (i only foresee the shocks going bad), you could always buy a brand new one with the money you save.

my install prices

Springs (4) - $100
Shocks (4) - $80 (awaiting install)
Strut Bar - free by me!
Sway bar - will be free by me!
Allignment - $90 (LifeTime at breakcheck)

if i had the knowledge, patience, tools and help, i would be doing the springs and shocks install myself! Call around for better prices!

I'll install it for a grand, hell, I'll fly out to wherever you are, air-mail all the tools I will need, and do the install myself for a grand

and I'd still be pocketing over $600 after the plane ticket for a maximum of 4 hours worth of work, that's if I'm half drunk and belligerent

oh, and one more thing, they wanted to charge you (or at least attempt since they said a price, guarantee it'd be on the bill) to install the lowering springs, which get put ONTO the shocks, and the shocks get installed? it takes LITERALLY 30 seconds with an air gun to tighten the ONE BOLT holding the springs onto the strut. $100 for literally 2 minutes of total work?

I'm in the wrong business.

alright, thanks everybody for letting me know that my dealership was ripping me off. i'm getting it done at a loca garage up in frostburg for less than $400. they said it would be $450 total with the alignment, but i said i want to wait a week to let the springs and shocks settle before getting an alignment.

damn, i can't wait to get my car back...this is going to be great!

yeah. and i like to use established garages because if they do something wrong, i can hold them accountible and get it fixed for free or get a refund. i'd hate to have a friend or somebody do it as a favor, and if something went wrong, and it costs me big time...i couldn't get mad at my friend and get him to pay or it or something. but a business i wouldn't have a problem with complaining if they screwed the pooch working on my tc.

i have no faith in my mechanical capabilities. i struggled just to put my x-mods tc together. i also don't hardly got no tools. anyway, i would never feel safe in a car that i did work on. all i've done to my tc is change bulbs, shift **** and my s2k antenna.

i dont know if this was covered casue i skipped to post quickly after what i read:

but:

A: go to a shop, those parts wont break.

B: You are covered for a 12 month warranty for TRD stuff NOT installed by a dealer.

C: IF THEY ARE INSTALLED BY A DEALER it goes along with your existing warranty(whats left of you 3 year)

Dont let them tell you otherwise.....

and please...for the sake of scionlife and all its members....go to a local performance shop, dont pay 1K for nothing.

wow, i cant even stomach that
