Default Decision on coils..

Yes, yet another 'Help me decide' thread. Sorry for noob-ness but it's hard going over so many threads and trying to crossreference.

Choices:

B&G RS2, F&F T2, Progress CS1, BC (keeping an eye on the recent thread).

Now my price budget is well within $1.5K and under. My needs don't warrant a purchase of JIC or anything $2Kish+.

Goals aren't for a slam. If it were, I know people praise B&G all around. I do want a 2~3" drop, which I know the first three options offer. With that said, I am also auto-xing about once a month. So I am going with a spring rate of 7K/9K, or 8K/10K and want coils that are track proven. For the most part, I know that I can get custom spring rates for any of these brands so that's not so much a problem as is reliability. That being the case, I definitely would choose Progress. I know a few people who auto-x with F&Fs but idk anyone with them in a tC that auto-xs. However, I want to avoid using stock tophats and want something that comes with pillowmounts (ala F&F T2 with future electronic dampering adjustment compatibility). I absolutely detest getting Teins for the price. I ran SS (non-PP) on my integra and they were ALRIGHT.. definitely NOT worth the money imho. I also know that B&G has a lifetime warranty going on, and I only hear great things about their customer service, but I just want to know how good they are on the track.

So just to quicknote my goals:
-Spring rates of 7/8K front, 9/10K rear
-2~3" possible drop
-pillow mounts
-track proven/reliable

B&G RS2: ~$1.4K
Yes, Yes, No, ??

F&F TypeII: ~$1.2K
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes (for other cars, idk about tC)

Progress: ~$1.4K
Yes, Yes, No, Yes

BC RAM: ~$1.5K
Yes, Yes, Yes, ??

I humbly ask you guys to chime in and help me out

Wait and see if Dezod will release a set of Dan Gardner progress coilovers. This of course depends on how long you can wait and if Dezod and progress can work together once again.

That is definitely another option I was thinking about. Granted as far as I know, Paul was saying it'd be an additional option for PB mounts, a DG-spec Progress Coilover would solve any issue of drop/reliability/spring rate. Just waiting on a possible price-range with top mounts.

I am in no rush so unless there is no progress (no pun intended) within the next year and a half to make the DG-spec coils, I'll be left with the listed four options, in which now I am favoring the BC RAM coilovers.

I have found better prices on all of those as I am looking at all of those except the Progress. Not going with progress simply for the fact that they don't have independent height adjustment. When you adjust ride height, your also messing with shock travel and spring preload. I feel the others are a better choice for that reason, and I am leaning towards BC. I could give you prices on all of those if you wanted haha.

Oh, prices are their 'MSRP', not what I can find them for. I'm looking forward to the reviews on reliability for the BCs.

And what do you mean by independent height adjustment?

http://www.dezod.com/pd_progress_cs1...rsscion_tc.cfm

Says they are height adjustable... but is 'independent' something different?

No, those are lowered by the spring seat/ring. Basically the lower the spring seat, the lower the vehicle. But also the less preload and shock travel.

On the others, the whole shock assembly is threaded into the mounting bracket that bolts to the knuckle. It can then be adjusted up and down inside that bracket, yet the shock travel is still fully there. Here is an example pic:

loosen those lock rings where the green arrows are for ride height adjustment.

So in the pictures for the Progress (on the Dezod site), the silver metal piece, or in the F2 pictures you have, the red rings, are the spring seats right?

So for all but the Progress, there are rings inside of the sleeve that you adjust (turn?) to adjust the height? I had my original Teins installed for me (and never adjusted the heights) so sorry for the noobness (still a lot to learn). What are the wrenches included for then?

that inner ring is a locking ring. Those wrenches are made to fit the rings. And yes, the red upper ring is the spring seat and the one directly below it is the locking ring. Keeps the seat from moving

Edit: Found a picture of what I was trying to show you. This pic should help with the ride height adjustment.

Muchos for all the of the help turbocharged. I kinda see what you mean now (after looking at the BC link). So for the F2 picture you posted, the green arrows point to the lowering ring for the rear assembly, and the front assembly lower lock ring is that silver ring right ontop of the bracket right? It would seem adjusting the rear height would be difficult (to get inbetween the springs and what not).

That is right! Rear wouldn't be too bad, after you break it free, it should spin easily with your fingers to loosen, and to raise/lower, you can do what the instructions say for the rears as well .

Oh and no problem!

BC racing told me that I shouldn't get the RAM type coilovers for street used. He said the internal seal do not hold up well to the abuse of pot holes and daily driving. He said they should only be used for track applications to limit the wear on them.

just thought i would let you know

^^ no problem

if you have any questions about their coilovers seriously email them, they are very quick to respond. They have gotten back to me quick everytime i have asked a question and they didnt seem to push their product on me like other companies seem to do, which I liked.
