Do I need a camber kit?
#1
How low can I lower my 07' Scion Tc without needing a camber kit and staying within factory spec after an alignment?
I haven't yet decided if I want Koni shocks with Tein H-springs or Tein basic coil-overs.
Just looking for ~1inch drop and a smooth ride.

I dropped 2" with my Eibach Low-Kits and was still technically within camber spec, but I bought a camber bolt set $25 and just put them on full negative, sorted out my outer-camber tire wear (which wasn't a big deal to be honest).
Drop 2" there's no point in going 1". I wouldn't want to go more than 2" no way no how.
I'm at -0.8 and -0.4 camber FL and FR wheels now. Best $25 upgrade.

no. the fronts on the TC do not have adjustable camber stock, it requires special bolts.
when you drop the tC the lower control arm moves through negative camber towards positive and into positive camber as you continue to lower it. simply the reality of macpherson strut suspension. It's once of the reasons why lowering more than 2" is worse for handling than leaving it at normal ride height and simply getting better springs and struts-- when the spring compresses it pushes the wheel into negative camber, which you want when you're cornering hard.

Lowered mine on tien s-techs and the alignment shop could get the camber within spec. So i thought I was golden. 'Til i wore out a set of Michelins with irregular cupped wear in the rear. ( good thing I work at a tire Shop and could approve my own warranty :-P ). So i bought and installed the Hotchkiss rear camber links. I set them by eyeball and then had it re-aligned. Problem solved. Even with a good amount of negative camber in the rear, they still wear flat and even.
