Default does a mere .2-7 extra of thickness make that much diff??

so I found out that my rear sway bar is 20mm thick..since I have the Auto....So having .2-.7 extra thickness on a aftermarket one really make it more superior???...

Anyone else want to comment? I'm kind of curious how it works that way as well.

Pretty much the rod has to bend to some degree to work. So if any 2 sway bars are identical in shape and are made of the same material then the thicker one will be stiffer but just making the bar with slight different bends can change it's stiffness (along with material of course). Also how long the arms are can change the stiffness (as in giving the suspension more torque over the sway bar to bend it like having a breaker bar instead of a small wrench) this is how the same sway bar can have different stiffness’.

Wow...I hope everything you just typed is Legit!...lol...it sounded very, very impressive...
I dunno I am still deabting over getting a thicker rear sway bar...I think I just need "better" tires....What about the C-Pillar bar?...

Tires are always the number one handling mod so definitely get that first and then a rear sway bar will be nice addition.

Here is a pic I took of the TRD bar next to the stock bar (automatic) when I was installing the TRD. You can see that the TRD is not only thicker but a different shape than stock (no curves).

hes right, a sway bar is just a torsion bar. its a big spring that twists. The arms work like levers a longer one makes it easier for the car to twist the bar, effectively making it like a softer bar. Thats how the holes at the end make it stiffer or softer.

How many holes come on the TRD bar? Its hard to tell from the picture, 2 or 3? I know theres a sway out there with 3 adjustable position holes.

2 holes for the TRD, 3 holes for the Progress bar. I've had both and the Progress is noticeably stiffer, it also comes with it's own end links.

I had a Progress rear sway on my mazda3 and really liked it. Which hole are u running it on? Im thinking of using the middle one, cuz the stiffest might be too much for daily driving?

Sorry to take so long on the response Tranman, I've ran both the TRD and the Progress on the holes closest to the bar (most aggressive setting).

I feel it's perfect for aggressive driving, I have an auto so Lift-throttle oversteer isnt really much of a problem, but I have noticed under hard braking while cornering, or extremely sharp and abrupt turns, the back end wants to come out a bit, not alot, but enough to notice it.
