Downside to lowering?
I'm still planning to get a TC in the next few weeks. I'm considering the TRD lowering springs. Is there any downside to doing this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

if you keep the stock struts, they will blow out faster... but not much faster. other than that, no, unless you plan on doing a body kit (makes it hard to get onto lifts, tow truckts, etc)
^^ Yes, not much faster. There are posts on SL from folks going 15K miles+ on lowering springs with stock struts. Especially with the TRD springs, which are the most conservative drop, you should be fine. (Ideally you would upgrade struts same time as shocks, but then you're almost in the $$ range of coilovers.)
There's really no downside to lowering, except ride is a little rougher. Just be careful going over big bumps & entering steep driveways so you don't scrape.
The upsides are GREAT- better handling, road feel, cornering. It's an excellent "bang for the buck mod" that you will appreciate every second you're driving.
And this car LOOKS so much better lowered!

im going to quote my self from another post-i had an s-10, went for 20K+ miles on a 3 inch drop, factory shocks(had to replace front just before that, they were gone at 70k, bac kmade it past 90k)
i would put faith in the shocks for up to at least 20K+ with lowering/stiffer springs

I had over 25,000 miles on my stock struts with S-Techs before I got the TRD struts with hotchkis springs..oh and they are still good...I put my old setup on my wifes tC and kept her stocks for later.
