EASY ACCESS IDEAS FOR REAR COILOVER DAMPER KNOB ANYONE!!!!!
Hey all its me again! I need your help in trying to figure out a way to make like an access hole to my rear coilover dampner *****. I have the Tein SS-P coilovers without the EDFC. What i am trying to do is make an access hole so that when i need/want to adjust the dampning on my coilovers, i dont have to take the ENTIRE rear side panels off in order to access the *****. Ideally what i would like is basically to drill a hole large enough to fit my hand and some sort of latch/access cover to close over it when i am not in there. I just dont want to have two gaping holes staring at me all the time! Do you guys have any ideas as to how i could do this? Do you guys know of some kit or something that would be useful for this application? I know i could just get the EDFC and not have to worry about it, but i dont really think that its necessary and i like to save money. The only idea that i can think of as of now is to get something maybe some PVC pipe and some threaded caps and painting them black or something. But that kinda seems ghetto to me. Or maybe take the material that i cut out and attach a foam backing to it so that it will stay in place. But ideally, i think it would be super cool to have like a hinged access panel there.
Well those are all the ideas i got. Please let me know what you all have for ideas!

with the time, effort, and materials it would take to make it look even remotely "clean" and the fact you'd be cutting up a brand new car wouldn't you be better off just spending the $350 for the EDFC? i love the fact i can make my adjustments on the fly even while im driving.
the cheapest and easiest thing you could probably do is what you were mentioning before. if you were to glue in some PVC pipe and get a cap for it (you could buy the cap in black...no need to paint it) it probably could look completely stock if you use the right tools and took your time.

yeah i went to lowes and got some plastic things just like that in the picture. i am happy with the results. It took me all of like....10 minutes. I kinda messed up on the first one. I drilled the hole through the carpet in the wrong spot, so now i have this damn hole in my carpet. Im going to put some subs on each side of the trunk though, so it will cover it up. Im not THAT worried about it. But for me, it would be nice to have the EDFC, but for right now, that 300+ dollars can be better spent on other things. Thanks for the post though.

I was under the impression that you could just change it on the fly. Also if the car is turned off then there is no power going anywhere, which means that the EDFC is not working at all. Are you sure about this? The edfc is nothing but a control box essentially that controls little motors on each coil which turn the needle valves inside the coilovers. The only difference is that with the EDFC you get double the dampning settings as opposed to just 16 i believe without it.
I can (and have) adjusted the EDFC on my car while the engine is running. I've driven and decided to adjust the dampening at a stop sign, and at a stop light without shutting off the engine. You can make adjustments any time there is power to the controller. I wouldn't recommend making the adjustments while in motion, esp over bumpy roads (just personal preference, and believe the manual recommends the same).

I've changed EDFC settings anytime and all the time. Hell, I've even done it literally 1 second before going into a tight turn. If I ever destroy one, well that's what the warranty is for. I would assume not only I, but many an owner of the EDFC coilovers have done it for all makes and models of vehicles. If it was that sensitive, they wouldn't release it simply due to the fact that they would break often because the general public is completely retarded. Ever ask yourself why we need warning labels to warn people not to consume stuff like RAID or ammonia?
Anyway, I've looked for something in the literature provided with the coilovers and the edfc and I couldn't find anything saying anything about not adjusting the EDFC while the car was in motion.
Also, setting the EDFC to 0 or 16 automatically "resets" the motors to the farthest point possible. Also, if you just turn off the controller (not the car) and turn it back on, the controller will reset the dampeners....it's designed to do that when you first install them.
