Default eibach sportline and koni yellow installed pics added

Well I got my spring set up installed.

They feel great. I know most people say that their car rides better than stock with their new springs, but not here. I didn't expect them to either. I got the sportline for performance not looks. They feel stiff but in a good way. I never could understand how a smoother ride with other spring brands could equate to better performance, except that it lowers the center of gravity.

I was wondering if I was the only person with this setup. I have not seen any pics of sportlines yet? I am pretty sure that I am one of a very few that have koni yellows.

Here how the front struts were modified.

It has been 5 hours and 3 drives since springs were installe, and the back is beginning to settle more. Looks different that the pics posted. Will post more later.

great choice, thinking the same soon but with prokit instead. i just dont like the fact you need to adjust the yellow off the car.

You only have to adjust the rear of fthe car. The front can be adj under the hood.

I went with one full turn tighter. I have no idea if it is a good setting for these springs or not. It can be turned 2 full turns for the tightest setting but I was told that no car will ever need a setting that tight. The signs on the ins manual showed two ++ for one full turn and 5 +++++ for two turns. I think one turn is a 50% increase over stock.

UPATE 5/9/06

The bolt that holds the strut in place fell out of the right front. I am assuming when I lowered the car the strut was compressed farther into the OEM strut housing. This caused the bolt to become loose and fell out.

I would suggest anyone doing this mod, to tighten the bottom strut bolts again after setting the car on the ground and use lock tight. Anyone know where I can get a replacement bolt. Guess I will contact Koni.

By the way Koni struts do not come with instructions. Just a sheet of paper with pictures. The pictures really suck also. Think god it is a somewhat easy install. I did almost miss putting on a metal washer in the top of the rear strut. While I'm on the phone with them trying to get a new bolt I think I will tell them what I think of their lame ___ attempt at an instruction manual.

Contacted Koni and they are air mailing the bolt out to me. It will be here next day by three. IT is a relief that their service is not as bad as their ins manual.

They suggest using lock tight. I asked whey that was not on the ins manual and they said it was because their manual sucked. I don't know want to think about that.

Yeah I always install them, then remove the front after lowering the car on them to seat the strut cartridge in the housing and then torque the bolt to spec with red loctite.

How are they riding thus far?

I was unaware that they only provide koni yellows for the front and reds for the rear. I thought the tC had yellows all around.

I was told by Koni that to break them in you should ride around on them on the softest setting for 500 miles or so, then you can adjust them tighter. Not that it matters because if you do have a problem, they will warranty it.

:D

Enjoy.

well all Koni Yellow struts are externally adjustable and thus do not have to be removed from the car to be adjusted...unless they changed something. The reds always have to be removed to be adjusted.

Thats not true, I had koni yellows on the rear of my old car a few years ago and they did have to be removed to adjust them.

The fronts were also the insert type.

I have yellows in the back and front. You just have to remove the rears to adjust them.
