Default Front Camber question

Cross camber from what I understand is the difference between camber settings. I was told by a tech that you never wanted to have zero cross camber in the front because if you didn't have some difference the car would be too sensitive to "road crown". The tech was saying to have at least 0.5 degrees of cross camber. I always thought you'd want zero.

How does front camber affect the steering? Does having less cross camber make the steering more or less responsive?

Anyone know why you'd want to have cross camber? I know there are people who tweak the camber for racing, etc, so let me know your take on this.

Cross camber does help to keep the car tracking properly on crowned roads. However, with the small amount of it normally used and the huge variation in road crown, it is hard to say how much overall effect this really has. My car is set with zero cross camber with -1.75 degrees of camber up front and it tracks very well. If you are set to near zero camber, the smaller amount of cross camber probably has more effect. Just to follow up on our pm conversation a bit.

hey thx engifineer, it's slowly making me realize what's going on. So basically it's a trade off, if you want a car that doesn't react to the real world road imperfections, throw a tiny amount of cross camber in.

If you want a car that is more responsive, and does react to everything in the road, dial in zero cross camber. Interesting.

+1 on what engi said.

I also went with zero cross-camber. Combined with the modifications, it's EXTREMELY responsive to sharp jerks of the wheel... but, when stopping at an intersection that has worn-in tire spots from years of use, the steering will pull moderately to the side.

I'd rather deal with crappy roads in a better set-up car, than make sacrifices on the car for a little more theoretical comfort.
