Flex as in what? If you press down on it? or do I feel it flex under cornering?

What can be used to paint the strut if I buy the knock off one from ebay? Or does it not matter. Not sure if certain paints would fade or burn away w/ the warmth of the engine. I am tho diggin the DC strut

Any paint should hold up fine as long as it's applied properly. If you can find the color you want in either wheel paint, caliper paint, or engine paint, then it wouldn't hurt to have the security blanket there but overall, it doesn't get that hot. I can grab mine with bare hands after driving my turbo setup. Maybe others heat up more but the DC Sports CS-2 stays relatively cool considering what it's next to.

So I can buy one of the ugly cheap ones from E-bay (since people say they don't do much that you'd notice and it's about looks), go to pep boys, advanced auto and get some sort of engine paint? rock on!

I love the DC one which I wouldnt paint, but if I want to play cheap, get a cheap one from ebay and paint it red so looks like TRD colors to blend in well w/ thie black car w/ the red linings... I got the 5.0 so I might just keep things to black and red as much as I can, but still reading up on how good this bar will really be or if it really is just for appearance

I can't tell you exactly what mine does for performance but I can tell you it's doing something because when I take it off, it is slightly warped before I bolt it back down. This tells me that it is taking some stress when cornering. How much exactly? I haven't a clue. Just make sure your front end is jacked up off the ground when you do the install to get the full benefits of the strut bar.

you know ive been hearing about that and some of my subaru buddies tell me that you have to install it when the car is is completely level and not having the front raised. i mean, the strut bar and chassy will flex regardless.

I'm just basing this off of the installation instructions from several different strut tower bar manufacturers. I don't know that having the car level will make much of a difference because it's main stress is lateral... then again, I'm no rocket surgeon lol

I decided to go with the DC Sports Strut Bar when i purchased one. Some people say it doesn't make a difference, some people say it does make a difference. I used to live in New York and drive on the Southern State Parkway. I felt a big difference taking all those curves once I had the strut bar installed. If anyone lives or has been to New York and has driven on the Southern State Parkway, you know what curves I'm talking about. Even on the Jackie Robinson, which has much more curves, the car felt great!!!

Recently I posted a video also on how to remove the Strut Bar. Just do the steps in reverse order. The DIY to install a strut bar should be posted by today, if not, tomorrow. Check it out if you need help.
