Hello guys!

Started to get into modding cars and wanted the car lower. My b/f didn't like the Tanabe springs as he said they are too soft and the car will bottom out too often. He autocrosses and swore up and down to use Eibach, and so now the tC is on sportline springs.

We have been trying to search around for a well matched strut/shock for this spring, as he doesn't like the rebound with the OE shocks.

He really likes Koni, but the install looks pretty bad. How are the Tokico with these? Are the Tokico the same as the TRD struts?

Sorry, I searched but there isn't much info on the sportline springs. Loving the drop though!! (its rough, but better than bottoming out all the time, plus autox looks fun!)

Does anyone know where to find ratings of the shocks? Kind of like finding the spring rates for springs.

 

I have never heard of such a thing...I mean, as an automotive/mechanical engineer, I can tell you that there is a mathematical damping factor (the units are (lbm in) / (lbf-sec^2)) associated with shocks, but as far as I know, it is not standardized or published.

Unfortunately, even if this rating were commonly published, variable valving on some higher-end parts makes it harder to compare. For instance, the TRD struts "...feature multi-stage, velocity-sensitive valving so struts adjust automatically to varying road conditions...". This means they will be soft over big bumps and potholes, and stiff while turning/accelerating/stopping.
