Good Swaybars?

. They're gonna hate me in a month after the turbo goes on
.
Also, do you know what the spring rate is on the front springs? I'm trying to figure out of the front end is going to drop at all after the turbo, piping, IC, etc..go in there. I want it to drop like .2" more, but doubt that stuff is enough weight.

And.... of course..... 3 wheelin !
Yeah.. I killed that stupid cone all day long too (Actually.. two seconds per cone). At least I was hitting it with the back wheel, so I was at least doing it "right" . The funny thing is that it looks like my car is hiking up and side kicking it as I go by.. which I am convinced is what was happening
I may be naive and undereducated when it comes to performance, but doesnt our car come stock w/ way too much understeer? Wouldnt it be logical than that a god rear sway bar that induces oversteer would be all you need to get the right balance. So forget about the front sway and strut bars?
It is correct that it needs more oversteer. You just dont want too much obviously. And if you want to reduce body roll more than a TRD rear sway does by a significant amount, then you run a stiffer front to keep it balanced. So a hotchkis setup will reduce body roll more than a trd sway, without throwing the balance too far off.
FWIW:
So here's what I'm running:
Springs: H&R Sport (previously Hotchkis)
Struts: Tokico (previously OEM)
Sways: Hotchkis Front and Rear
Strut Bar: DC Sports (as if it matters)
Tires: Falken Azenis RT 615 @ 225/45
Here's what I think:
The difference from Hotchkis springs and OEM struts to H&R Sport and Tokicos is ridiculous. And after driving both setups, I can agree with engifineer's point about a certain drop being kind of a "cutoff" point. Of course the difference in my setup was further accentuated by the change in struts... but still. I feel a lot more stable and controlled at the current ride height and setup than I did before.
The only complaint I have about the ride is when it's chilly out (haven't had the springs/struts in winter yet) it gets a bit more stiff. I think that's the struts though and I deal with it. Not awful, but we'll see how it goes when winter comes.
Otherwise, right now, through Autox season, I'm having a blast. The car handles awesome. If anything I need to switch my rear sway back to the medium setting to keep the rear from kicking out on me occasionally. But I'm trying to fight through that and adjust my driving style. It's going well.
I think the swaybar issue comes down to one thing... are you going to race at all? No? Go with just a rear bar. TRD would be fine. You'll notice a crazy difference from OEM. If you DO race... you'll want to consider maybe the Hotchkis set or one of the solid bars.
Springs and struts? Well, I love the drop I have now. The H&R Sports give a pretty clean look, IMO. I loved the Hotchkis look I had and was worried I might be back to the "stilts" effect by going up to the H&Rs. Not at all. I like it. A lot. Struts? Nothing but praise for the Tokicos. Especially for the price.

hey engifineer,
i'm glad youre havin fun with the trd setup
i am also very pleased with the trd sway and spring/strut combination for road racing
i get the rear to swing out on command by downshifting, then braking and turning simultaneously. same with you?

I seem to have found the 'most fun' setup, because last night I was sliding around turns with no understeer and just a little oversteer. My friend was following behind me in his 58 trim Evo and he was shocked that he had to actually put in a little effort to keep up with me going around the corners. However, my setup is obviously horrible for the track
. I've got video, but the camera was mounted on the side of my car looking back, so you really can't tell too much.
hahah i'm sure you have a fun setup carbonxe
I'd love to have my car oversteer as easily as RWD cars
sadly, no one sells just the rear bar, and buying the set is expensive and a waste
how'd you get just the rear?

no one sells JUST the HOTCHKIS rear sway bar
i had been looking into hotchkis from day one, but the several issues that came up about the integretity (snapping) and fitment issues deterred me; that and the price tag :/
