Default Hotchkis Springs Question?

1.7" front drop
1.97" rear drop?
What's up with that? Why is the rear dropped lower then the front? That can't look right. Has anyone gotten these yet?
I want to get the Hotchkis front and rear sways, and at HopUp Racing you can get the set and it's only like another $80 for the springs, but I'm worried about how it would look with the rear being more of a drop then the front.
I already have the TRD springs, and I love the back, but I want the front just a tad bit lower. Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to keep the TRD springs in the back and the Hotchkis springs in the front with the Hotchkis front and rear sways? I imagine it can't be a good idea, but I want your opinions.

The rear is very high. We did it to level out the car.

That is all nice and everything but I know quite a few people that like the backend higher than the front.

It would be fine to do it but the way the springs are set up is for downforce pull.

hotchkis,
do you have pics of them installed on a tc with stock rims?
I have the TRD springs wich give the same drop front and back, and the front looks a little higher then the front. I don't know how much it drops when my fat a$$ is in it, though, cause no one has driven my car without me in it yet!

And I know a bunch of people, including myself who like the car to be level.

Now that I think about it, I remember seeinga couple tCs on this site whose rear end looked really high. After they put springs on, they looked just like all the others with the same springs. So the model Hotchkis got might have been one of these, maybe the rears werent' settled when they took their first measurments.
So If you had a larger gap inthe back, it would drop it more in the back. But putting these springs on any car would give it the same ride height, weather it started out higher inthe back or not. So I guess, if they had a proper model to start, it would not have measured as such a large drop in the back.
Still, pics would be nice.

OK, seriously...what about my mistmatched springs question? I remember someone saying not to use the hotchkis front sway with the trd rear sway, and I agree, but what about the springs? Would Hotchkis springs in front and TRD springs in back cause problems?

I dont know exactly what would happen if you did this, but remember than packaged products are produced to work with each other. You might get unexpected results if you start to mix and mach due to the fact that every spring has different spring rates, heights, etc.

Right. That's what I figured, but I was thinking that the front and rear of each set have different rates and heights anyway.

I dont' know, the more and more I look at my TRD drop, the more and more I like it. The back just looks a little lower then the front. I need bigger wheels!

Here is the pic i was talking about

Maybe their model looked like this, which is why their springs measured as if they dropped the rear more then the front. What do you think?

My tC looked like that stock, with the back jacked up high, the TRD' seemed to fix that pretty well though.

Right, and you car probably looks just lilke mine now with the TRD springs. So if we both measured before and after, Mine would probably show it droping 1.2" in front and 1.2" in back while your'se would show 1.2" in front and maybe 1.4" in back from stock? I'm thinking that might be why the Hotchkis numbers are that way.

If they still have the deal at Hopup racing, I think I'll try the springs with the sways.

Sweet, that's just what I wanted to hear! Now, are you going to measure how much the drop is again and fix the numbers if your original test unit was a little off, like the one in the picture?

Here we go everybody.

Stock Wheels and Tires

Remember that every car will have slightly different measurement. Do to manufacturing tolerances.

Front -
Stock Measurement
Ground to Fender Lip = 26 3/8
Hotchkis Measurement
Ground to Fender Lip = 24 13/16

Drop = 1 9/16 (1.563) - (Published = 1.7)

Rear -
Stock Measurement
Ground to Fender Lip = 26 3/4
Hotchkis Measurement
Ground to Fender Lip = 24 7/8

Drop = 1 7/8 (1.875) - (Published = 1.97)

This is the before picture.

This is the after picture.

Hope this helps you out.
