I just installed a new hotchkis front sway bar. Everything went somewhat smoothly, all bolts are back on and torqued to spec. But when I drive, and when im moving and hit the brake, theres a pretty loud *clink* that sounds like its coming from the drivers side underneathe. I spent about 2 hours with a friend trying to figure it out and I am lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

do you hear it when you go over bumps or just when you brake?

 

Make sure you didn't install the sway bar upside down and that its centered underneath the car. Take a picture if you can.

 

Did you grease the fittings like it says?

 

i didnt get far enough to tell, i was slowly going out of my neighborhood, went to stop and heard it when hitting the brakes. so i just turned around and went back.

its definately in the right way, im not sure if u could even get it in upside down, but it is exactly like the instructions said.

yea the bushings were properly greased. and the noise is much louder than just the bushings.

 

Double check that all the hardware is good 'n' snug?

 

yea everything was definately fully tightened. i just dropped it off at the mechanic shop near my house...ill update when i find out whats wrong with it.

 

watching just out of curiosity.. it does sound like a lose something..

 

well almost everyone was right, there was a loose bolt. but all is good now, and i must say, wow what a huge difference the bars make

 

do you own both Hotchkis front and rear bars?

I was gonna ask if he had tein coilovers coz some said they have issues with it.. but glad you fixed it

 

yea i have front and rear hotchkis on now

and i do have tein basics.

but this was all "user error" haha. i thought i had everything tightened, but i was wrong.
