Just to add to what lobux is saying
I drove the entire weekend in a tC with the twm stage 2 kit. It is very short in height and the throws do feel a lot shorter. 4-5 shift feels like a 4-3 shift. There is less movement left and right. because it was so much shorter, my elbow hit the arm rest whenever i shifted the lever down. I'm sure if i got used to it i could take advantage of the shorter throw but the height made it uncomfortable and i shifted just as fast or slower than on my stock shifter. overall, i'm not impressed.
I'm really interested in the trd shifter because it retains the stock height. I've gotten to 'play' with the trd and the throws felt just like stock. as for making it taller and closer to the steering wheel, i think it'll get in the way if it sticks up any higher. I can't even get to the items in my cubby hole when its in 1st, 3rd or 5th not to mention it gets in the way when the car is parked and your hands are busy elsewhere.

It seems that the B&M is the best option because with the risers you can have the stock height. I put the stock bushings in and am running a little bit shorter than stock but with more precise throws. Its also quite a bit cheaper than the TRD.

I was able to sit in a car with the TRD short shifter installed. With the clutch in, I threw into gear but all the gear changes felt same as stock. The 'throw' didn't feel shorter. Even the owner of the car agreed with me.

But the **** looks cool
come on 200 dollars for a new ****. No that sucks I was really planning on getting the trd one because i dont like the lower shiftknobs. Dryshifting though

Here are some pics of my shifter. The first pics is my stock shifter with my Razo ****. The next is my new CC shifter that I modified. I did not like how it bent back which made shifting unconfortable especially since I destroyed my wrist in a car accident a few years back. So I cut and welded it so it now sits straight up, no bend. It feels much better this way. The last pics are with the modified CC shifter all the way forward and then all the way back.

i have something new. I have the new ARK shortshifter from www.arkspeedracing.com
it has the stock height. maybe a little lower and throws are shortened by 35-40% it feels great.

I'm looking for something thats around stock height (so no armrest/drink conflicts occur) but shortens throws (hopefully more than what shinkuu is refering to as no change from stock)...
