from what it looks like the pictures of the ark shifter by itself, yeah, the assembly is much longer than the stock one (below the pivot point), thus providing much shorter throws while not sacrificing the stock height.

get the shortest one possible - i would not want anything but the one i have - since ive had it for about a month now - it feels just like it was stock - i cant imagine having the old one. Unless you have 6'5 ....dont worry about getting the short shifter. You want the shortest height and shorest throw - get that and reread this post and say "thank you". If you are reading this forum you are the few % that buy the car ...if we were the entire scion population these shifters would be stock. They arent for grandma but they are good for you.

well.. Short shifter does not mean short shaft. It is reduction from pivot. And ARK now have scion STS in stock beginning tomorrow !!
