i just switched off my stock 17's and put on a set of different 17's. only thing now is when im driving under 55 or so, the steering is fine, but once i go over that the steering wheel starts to kind of vibrate/shake. im not exactly sure whats causing the problem but if anyone can help me out here, id appreciate it. also one more thing, is it normal for the tire pressure warning light to come on after putting on new wheels?

take them to a tire shop to get them balanced and more air. keep going back untill you cant feel vibrations!!! How much air can your tires handle?

 

make sure the tire pressure is at the correct setting and make sure you torqued down your lugs in a star pattern

 

max pressure the tires can take is 44 psi , theyre all at about 34-36 now tho. does it cost anything to get them ballanced?

 

i think so? Not too sure on how much, it should be too much. Im thinking no more than $50? i would put the tires at around 40-42 psi. Then reset the tire pressure light, which means hold it down untill it goes off.

 

to only balance tires should be cheap.. i would think about 20-30 for all four.

however i think your problem is your wheels may not be hub centric, as in the center bore is larget than the hub on the car.. basically take it to a wheel shop and say you need some hub centric rings.. they should be able to help you

My wheel's been shaking a little bit at high speed, I just thought I'd been overly hard on the power steering.

 

thanks guys, i took em to get ballanced and 2 of the tires were off by a 1/4 of an ounce so i got that squared away , but the guys there also said hub centric rings would def. help with the problem. also when ballancing my wheels they discovered a significant bend in one of my wheels that could be causing the problem as well. thanks again for the help

 

Do you have an 07? 07s have tire pressure sensors built into the wheels. In order to get them onto your new wheels you'll need to unmount the tires, remove the sensors, unmount your new tires, install the sensors, remount your new tires and remount your wheels.

 

really? i have an o7, thats interesting, ill have to look into that, any tech articles on how to remove them that u know of?(i was wondering why the tire pressure rest button wasnt working with the new rims on the car, lol) l

 

I am experiencing this problem too with my 18's, the wheel place forgot to send the hubcentric rings to me. That should help alot with the vibrations.

i will be getting some as well... (hubrings).. you really need them to help keep your rims stable... when i get my allignment this is what i will be doing... Just gotta find my hub diameter on my Advans.. I think the tC is 54.1.. Please correcdt me if i am wrong... Later.

I got mine put on a few weeks ago and it help ALOT on the vibrations.

"Hubcentric rings are designed to fill in the gap between the hub of the car and the center bore of the wheel. Most wheel manufacturers design their wheels with a center bore large enough to fit on most cars. Therefore, since wheel manufactures make their center bore large enough to fit most cars, most wheel fitments have a gap between the hub and the center bore. This gap usually doesn't allow for the wheel to fit hubcentric but rather lugcentric which causes vibration. Therefore, to fill the gap and ensure the fitment is hubcentric, hub rings are used."

 

o i see!! cool! thanks! so basically the ring fills thu gap from the wheel to the hub to ensure almost perfect fit? o nd how would u know if u need one just by lookin at it nd w/out drivin thu car..

 

Scion_X is correct, InLikeFLint is wrong. The centerbore on the tC is 54.1mm.

 

It's a plastic ring that fits inside the actual rims center hub in the inside. If you dont see one and just see an open gap, you dont have it and will probably need one. Here's a link to what it looks like...http://justforwheels.com/index.jsp?c...=how&track=GST
