Besides, no car accident is ever your fault. You rear-end someone because they stopped short. You hit a parked car because it was parked someplace it shouldn't be parked. It's logical then to assume that every brand new TC destroyed by some jackass pretending to be the drift king is due to mechanical failure.

With the young demographic, I wonder how long before Insurance Companies pick up on the higher accident rate and start charging ? Consumer Reports already is listing the TC as a so so repair rate , not so much due to the car but to the many " mods" done aftermarket.
The whole Scion concept is fairly new , it will be of interest to see how it plays out.
I have never had one adjustment to my tC policy since I bought it due to anything other than a speeding ticket I got. But, I am also 30. I think it is not just the tC, but the younger demographic causing more and more accidents. More young people own this car, so more tC owners see the rates going up. Just my theory though since most people I see saying thier rates went up were younger tC drivers (<25 y/o)
Wish everyone that races and dont know how to really race , unless press on f** gas and go , i relaly wish they get SR-22 and 2 years without licence , they think again about speeding 5 over .......i did same stupid thing 4 years ago , i didnt race even tho i had powerfull honda prelude 1993 SI with 246HP and i lost my drivers licence because i speed 139 on highway it was clear road , but then i think back now again Its just stupid but i learned my lesson and now i guess i speed 5-10mph and thats maybe except sometimes i do it if some idiot is driving 45 on 65mph lol i gear it to 90
would u drive again and your licence get pulled again for 5 years?
........my stress was that when i lost it for 2 years + 1.5 years probation , in the mean time of 2 years i had to avoid main streats so i was driving like on side streets lol

lol driver error for those most def. when i get ym tc im totally asking for suspension help from the guys here in sd.
teach kids how to heel-toe BEFORE a turn
im sure the tc is more a car for the twisties than a straight out line unless your FI. im gunna take heron the twisties slowly a couple times to see how the tc does when i get her.

Your post makes no sense. You point out that the tC is not a sports car (quite true), then insult everyone and say to buy a "real car" (I'm assuming by real you mean expensive) and stop talking poop. Uh-huh.
Most kids aren't nearly as good at driving as they think they are. I thought I was hot stuff in high school, but looking back I realise I'm lucky to be alive for all the stunts I pulled.
I'll add this to the general discussion: too many kids are getting spoiled with nice cars that their parents buy for them. When kids (or anyone else for that matter) don't actually work for something, it's harder for them to respect and appreciate what they've got. They feel free to f--- around because "Mommy and Daddy will buy me a new one if I wreck it." That's when people get killed.
I think this is totally driver error. The TC with some minor mods handles very well. This also allows much higher speeds through corners than stock. These higher speeds create a smaller margin of error.
I went from stock... to front, rear sway bars and front strut brace... to now with coilovers as well. I can say that the car handles very well, but you also lose a good sense of speed compared to stock. There are time when you look down and notice your taking a 35mph offramp at 60-80 instead of 40-50. Thats a big change.

The question from me is this: when do you officially become an "experienced driver"?
It was stated earlier that people in the 17-22 year range believe that they are experienced but they really are not- I find myself in this range and hey, I think I'm a pretty good driver. In a driver's-ed course I took it stated that a driver isn't officially 'experienced' until they've driven... I think it was... 40,000 miles or for seven years. Now, I've only put 7,3xx ish on my tC in the past year I've been driving, and I haven't taken any performance driving schools, aka Audi or Panoz or anything outside of embarassing "STUDENT DRIVER" classes. However, I have gone without a ticket and without accident (knock on wood) in my first year, when friends of mine have been totalling cars left and right.
I ask because I really want to know when I can contribute to debate as an "experienced driver" and not just a "reckless teen" (no one called me that, but I'm sure some think it when they see that '17' to the left). I think I do a pretty good job since I've got a clean slate and also, because I have driven an abnormally large variety of cars for someone my age, due to the fact that I work at a small Mercedes private dealer. I avoided being involved in a few accidents today, which kind of motivates this entry.
It's a long and confusing question, I know, but I want to know what everyone believes qualifies one as "experienced."

Experienced at what ? It's not age . Not many folks young or old have the experience gained from driving a car pushed to it's limits. We're all apt to make mistakes but it's youth that takes chances. It's what you do when you are young . It's what youth has always done.

Remember how I said "knock on wood"? Well, yesterday I came pretty close to being T-boned. It was a two-lane divided highway, very light traffic and light was green, but not protected- I was trying to make a left across those two lanes, but couldn't see around the Lexus SUV that was trying to turn left facing me. I hate the hell out of these situations, since I realize that I have no idea of what's coming yet I hate waiting when no one's coming and looking like a doofus. So, I turned out, praying there wasn't a car, and lo and behold, a silver sedan was coming fast. I saw him, said "oh ____he!" to myself and gunned it, turning a really tight left hander and swinging it back to the right while his tires squealed and ABS kicked in and all of that.
It was pretty scary- if it'd been a crash it would have been deemed my fault, but I just couldn't see a single thing around that damn SUV. I felt really bad about the deal and turned back to try to find the driver of the sedan, but they were gone and I didn't remember what exact car it was. I wanted to see if they were alright and everything... Last time I jinx myself right there.
