Newbi here - Flame suit on
Hello All,
I convinced my partner to by the 05 TC. I thought the ride was great and had major bang for buck.
Drove the TC yesterday. It has 11,000 miles on it. Its got two nasty issues and my partner wants to kill me for the push to buy it. I drive an 07 GTI, but love the TC for the price. Please help.
1) TC gets pulled from side to side over any road imperfection at low speeds, real tugging from side to side over rounded dips and bumps. At 80 on the highway its stable and smooth - any thoughts.
2) Feathering the pedal north of 1500 on the tach and less than 3000 brings on major hessitation feel. "drivetrain lag? .
Please help so I stay the consumate Ride purchase advisor !!!

Hey, thanks for the quick replys.
The TC was purchased new and these issues have just developed over time. Suppose the first place I should check is Tires and Alignment. The wandering is def a possible alignment issue.

Car and Driver did the road test when the tC first came out and stated that depending on what suspension upgrades you have and types of rubber they come with, side to side motion on highways with ruts was common. The lower and grippier the tire, the more this was noticeable.
The "lag" in rpm pick up is due to the Drive by wire setup. The ECU is controlling the gas pedal, unlike older cars and simply other cars with cable driven throttle bodies. The lag can be deminished with light weight crank pulley and light weight flywheel, but it will not be taken away. Just something to deal with.

Sounds like an alignment issue, if it's just becoming a problem now. If you hit a rut or are driving across a slope, the wheel may pull a little. If the car veers one direction for no apparent reason, it's probably alignment.
Stiffer shocks, too, seem to take some of that 'dude where's my steering wheel' effect away.
