Default Original Hotchkiss Tower Brace for tC.........

I am hearing that there was a recall on the original one that Hotchkiss produced for the tC. Is there any truth to this rumor? And if yes, is there a safety issue with it or just because it did nothing for the suspension?

Why did he not PM me back? That is just wrong. But if it is fine, what is the benefit to switching to the new version and why did they request to get the ones that were not sold back?

The original bar was discontinued for a short time a few months ago due to a slight design flaw. When the original bar was installed on the car, in some cases, the bar made contact with the brake fluid reservoir. This was not acceptable and for liability purposes, Toyota and/or Hotchiks redesigned the bar. A recall was never issued for the bar since this wasn't safety issue and the redesign was done to cover their butts in case anything could be remotely connected.

I got the info from Paul @ mcgeorgeparts.com. I got the bar when it first came out, and when it was discontinued, I asked if there was a recall and he explained that they were redesigning it.

I am sorry if you did not get the PM. I did send it, but was having computer issues that day. There is no problem with the original brace. It just ran close to things and we (Toyota/Hotchkis) decided to improve the distance between the brake MC and the vac valve that is attached to the intake. Hope this helps.
