so i finally got around to painting my calipers today but i rattle canned them and rushed it a little and now i have some minor overspray

i was wondering what the best way to remove the overspray from my rotors would be?

No. Its a slab of steel...

It will f%$& up any paint quite nicely though, so keep it away from anything you want paint on.

 

I accidentally got some paint on my rotors with my caliper paint kit. I didn't do anything about it for about 3 days but then I went out to get paint thinner. When I took off my wheels, the paint on the rotors was gone. Probably just shaved off with braking. But there was still some on my rear rotors and those came off really easily with a q-tip and paint thinner. Just wet it with the thinner and wait a few minutes, and repeat and then just wipe it all off with an old rag.

 

I did the same thing painting my calipers, just brake really hard for a few miles and the friction will get rid of it, no need for anything else.

 

yea i would be too paranoid to use paint thinner.....
i would use it as my last resort but if i were you i would take some of these guys advice with the braking and go from there....GL

 

brakeing is just like sand paper...just more aggressive...and natural for the rotor.

 

Just take some sandpaper and rub it off. Sandpaper is used on rotors after they are cut. Just use some 150grit.

 

If it's on the face only, just brake hard. Less work and just as effective.

If it's on the lip, mineral spirits or thinner. Acetone might be bad for the brake lines if they're rubber. Or you can sand the lip.
