Default Problem with TEIN basics...please help!

I am running TEIN basic coilovers. Right now, the rear sits higher than the front on my car so me and my buddy attempted to drop the rear a little to match the front. TEIN coilovers have 2 collars (one to lock and one to adjust). I was able to get one side done, but I couldn't get the second one to unlock. I haven't adjusted in a while. Darn thing wouldn't budge. I even sprayed it down with JB80. Anyhow to make a long story short. I snapped one of the TEIN adjustment wrenches in half trying to turn the collar. Now I only have one wrench and I can't adjust my suspension. What do I do?

you might be able to relieve some tension by removing the coilover entirely. I just adjusted mine and my buddy strained back muscles getting them loose. I'd ask Tein if they had any tricks.

use a pipe over the wrench for extra leverage and make sure that you are undoing them and not tightening them.

damn yo that sucks! uhm same crap happened to my tein basic coilvers. i spent hours trying to budge the thing. i took out the whole coilover from the car and thought it'll relieve some tension but that didnt help.

i sprayed wd40 on it and it still didnt work.

So i got fed up and took it to a shop my friend recommended. He sprayed wd40 and let it set in for a while. Then he attempted to crank it. He kept pulling on it and never gave up. He knew exactly which way to pull (whether to loosen it or tightening it), and eventually it began to loosen up.

My advice is to spray some wd40 and let it set in for a good minute or so. Then use the wrench to either tightening it or loosening it ( i forget which way lowers it or raises it). But yeah, its tough...those wrenches hurt like a mother *bleep* but dont give up! if you do...take it to a local shop and hopefully they have stronger and rougher hands to match that metal wrench.

Goodluck

thats how I snapped the wrench in half. I used a breaker bar (cheater bar) and that didn't work. How do you think I got the leverage to snap a metal wrench in half? My hands aren't THAT strong

Anyone in MD/VA/DC have TEIN coilovers and would let me borrow a wrench?

My buddy thats a mechanic for VW sprayed something called JB80 on it (i guess it has the same effect as WD40) and that didn't do it.

Yeah, or find a local with a wrench you can borrow.

Protip for the future, whenever you wash the ride, make an effort to get down there and soap up/spray the coilovers.
