I currently have have TRD Springs/Sway with OEM shocks.

How much of a difference would I notice if I upgraded to TRD Shocks? And in what way?

Because when my stockers blow, not sure if I get some used OEM's from the classifieds, or if I should fork over the $$$ for trd.

stiffer shocks are more responsive, and lower and will greatly improve handling and braking

Well, Im sure I would be able to score some used OEM shcoks from the classifieds for no more then 100$.

TRD's are 450$.

 

you aren't limited to just trd ones, there are koni yellows and tochiko also.

 

Drax, I could be wrong, but I thought shocks didn't determine your ride height, your springs did, are you sure ?

 

springs have a much bigger impact on ride height but the fact is that the trd shocks and struts are shorter than the OEM ones. so if you put stock springs on trd struts, your tc would be lower than OEM springs and shocks would be.

 

Good point Drax, and since Tinman is already on TRD springs and shocks, he might not see a significant difference in height, right?

Not sure if I should get low mileage oems used or fork over the dough for some trd's.

I would just go ahead and upgrade to the TRD's..i'm running TRD springs/struts and i love it...been on that set up for roughly 10k miles

I wouldnt buy used ....Im not sayin to go with a certain brand, just sayin that its worth it to just get new ones..

When you're running TRD springs with stock shocks, you will still not have the total drop untill you upgrade to TRD shocks?

the reason Im saying this is because im wanting to go a tad lower in height but I dont want to have to buy another set of lowering springs to be .5 or so lower. If the TRD shocks lower the car more that would be awesome. Are there shocks out there that are shorter than TRD's?

Well most peeps would suggest the Trd ones since you already have the springs....So you can have a "true" Trd drop...Theyre just kinda pricey if you ask me....but worth the money
