some companies have warranties on premature pad replacements. what kind of pads did you run before you "toasted" the stock ones? did you replace them yourself? do you live in a city? do you left foot brake? i have a lot of miles on my xB and i dint have to replace my stock set untill 85K.
haha yea im on my second set....i live kinda in the city where its rush hour all day, they are stock pads, no i dont left foot brake but say im going like 65 or 70 i apply my brakes for a good amount of time instead of pumping the brakes or engine braking...
if you live in a city, you shouldn't be going that fast anyways. i live in a city now and the most i can go is 55 and i have plenty of time to stop.
this is all unless you have to jump somewhere in I-95 then you really should go through brakes a lot quicker.
i drove through a town outside of Baltimore and i can see what you mean. HAHAH.

yea no i take 270...its the interstate here..its the only way to get to another town without sitting in traffice and speed limit is 65 as some points so i do 75 and have to stop to 35 for exits pretty quickly
When it is stopped, there is no movement of the pads, only some force against them.
35,000 - 50,000 miles is what you should be expecting out of them auto or manual. You dont need to engine brake or pump the brakes to get that either, just drive normally. 20,000 means you have a bad driving habit (like resting your foot on the brake) or are driving the car super hard all the time.

my stock pads lasted to 70k before I replaced them - and the rotors - 10 days ago. the pads were still good... but then I religiously do rev-match downshifts for engine breaking unless I have no time to do so. had stainless brake and clutch lines put in too.
dude, you don't live in the city, you live in germantown. lol.
why have you needed to replace two sets of pads in only 20k miles?
unless your parking brake light is flashing at you when you move away from a stop, your brakes are fine.
