why have you needed to replace two sets of pads in only 20k miles?

unless your parking brake light is flashing at you when you move away from a stop, your brakes are fine.
i live in germantown but i drive to rockville for school everyday and dc for work

Just curious...but did your brakes squeal when you drove with them that long? Mine have been squeaking since probably about 5,000. I'm at about 60,000. And my brake light has been flickering on and off which I read could be low brake fluid but mine's currently in between the lines right now.

hmmm... my oem brake pads only really made noise when they were wet from either it being wet out or condensation on the rotors.

Mine didnt make any noise at all, untill it was time to replace them at 61k....

We still have not gotten an answer from the OP as to why he has gone through 2 sents of brakes in 20k....

That SCREAMS poor braking habits to me...

okay so that confirms what i said about poor driving habits.... if you want to extend the length of your brake pads life, you need to either drive normal, or get brake pads that are designed for higher speeds.... once you go over 60, the temperature of your brakes while stopping skyrockets.... Stock pads and oem replacements are NOT designed to take taht kind of wear and tear....

even so... the oem pads can take braking from 100mph for a long time. it is more a matter of how hard the braking is. if you are braking so hard that you are always on the threshold of the ABS then yeah, even braking from 60mph is going to wear your pads like mad.

I regularly cruise in the 70-80mph range on the highway but rarely have I ever had to get on the brakes that hard, as I prefer to do a rev-matched downshift to 4th to initially decelerate... but then i tend to drive with a pilot's mindset - I try to follow the rule of 'for every 60mph in speed, keep your mind 1 minute ahead of where you are'
