first off sorry for the lack of technical terms, but

i recently began to notice some scoring on my rear brake rotor at only 12,000 miles.
this seemed very weired, but i bought new pads because i thought my pads might have worn down alredy.

so i take my tire off, and take the pad out, and what do you know the pad only seemed to have about 12,000 miles of wear on it. the pad was fine.

so i began looking around to see what was causing the scoring.
i will mention three part here:
rotor
part that holds the pads
part that houses the piston and squezes the ped

the part that holds the pads was actually touching the outside half of the rotor
it also seemd that the back pad was not even coming into contact with the rotor.
the whole caliper was missaligned with the rotor.

has anyone ever had this problem and how should i go about in fixing it?

 

I doubt you have a problem. The torqued wheel is what situates the rotor in place against the hub. Without it on, there is tons of slop. Plus there will always be runout, as that is what pushing the pads back off the disc so you don't get brake drag. If you want anymore of a reply than this, you need to provide pictures of your "problem."

Are those deep grooves that you can put your nails into, or just on the surface? If they're only on the surface, I'm still not worried. If they are deeper, you could have picked up a small pebble or something of the sort. You can always take the rotors off, take 'em to Pep Boys, and have 'em turned for $20.
