Reliability of TRD Shocks vs. OEM Shocks
So........to actually answer your original question instead of trying to change YOUR mind...lol here is the answer.
I only ran my oems for about 1-2k then switched to TRD Struts. I have loved them since I installed them. 2.5 years later and 80k miles later they are still running strong, although I am sure I am getting close to time for replacement.
I drive alot for work and go through many mountain areas with alot of curves and I feel the struts made a big difference to me.
Oh, and yes I did at first have stock struts with the trd springs. Changed to full setup about 1.5k later.
Hope this helps.

I replaced my stock setup with the TRD springs and struts in September 08. I had about 30K on the car when I made the swap. So far so good. The only thing I noticed is that the struts squeeked alot when it was really really cold(0-20 degrees F). Other than that I feel this is how the car should have come from the factory.
To those that say the TRD struts are a waste I enjoy the piece of mind of the warranty and I also didnt want to risk running stock struts that I was going to have to replace soon anyway - its not super difficult but very time consuming to swap out the struts(spring compressors/pulling out the spare tire and other stuff) I figured if I was gonna do I was gonna go all the way.
To the OP I am really impressed with the struts. It really makes a big difference to the way the car handles.
My $.02

You can't be sure that the ride difference was due to the struts or the springs since you installed them at the same time. I put in TRD springs at least 5k miles ago and my stocks still haven't blown. If the TRD struts improved the smoothness of the ride I would definitely look into it.
You will absolutely benefit from upgrading to TRD struts!
Anyone who says there's no point of upgrading your oem struts if they are fine has no clue how suspension works. Upgraded struts will give you a more responsive, firmer, and much better performing ride. You could slap TRD or any other "performance" strut on your stock springs and you would feel a huge difference in firmness. Performance struts make a NIGHT and DAY difference in how a car handles/drives......
