Default Scared to lower my tC

Hey I am no expert about lowering I just know what looks good.

I want to lower my tC but I don’t want to have issues with curbs and stuff. I was thinking about a "air ride" Don’t know if that’s the correct term, but I thought it might be better. The idea is to lift my car over the curbs and when I am on flat road I can have it lowered.

Am I going in the right direction?

No, air ride is not what you want. expensive and poor performance. Go with coilovers and find a heigth that fits your driving and city.

Oh and wrong forum.

i have the TRD lowering springs on mine and i have no problems with mine at all.just learn how to drive with the losering springs and you will be ok. go over speed bums at a angle and not straight (hopefully you do this already). and like the guys said above, air ride is NOT the answer. you will get some guys that have it and they will swear by it, but in actually it sucks in performance. plus its WAY over priced. and again like the guy above said, coil overs would be your best bet cause you can adjust them. the TRD springs only give you a 1" drop so its not slammed but still looks good. i only have a 1 finger gap between my tire and fender. i live in utah right now and its crazy with dips(especially coming out of gas sations and other buisnesses). but like i said abouve, just learn how to drive with it. or dont get them

Same here. I drive through Laguna Beach all the time, and I just got my bumper repainted. Lots of hills.

I guess I worry because I pulled up to a parking spot at my dealer and it had one of the concrete stops. I looked and it only had about .5" before it will hit. I guess it’s a debate I will have to make >.<

Sorry about posting in the wrong area.

its all good bro. like i said you have to learn how to drive with lowering springs.
heres some pros: (someone else can add more)
1. looks great
2. handles better (lower center of gravity)
3. easier to wash your roof. lol
cons are:
1. easier to scrape ground
2. the lower you go the more camber becomes a issue (camber fine w/ TRD springs though)
3. easier to hit curbs with bumpers
like i said, others can add more, but these are what i can think of halfway into a bottle of capt. morgan lol

I don’t think you get what I am trying to say. I can drive fine with it lowered but I don’t know if the look is worth the hassle.

Get the eibach Pro Kit. It will give your TC 1.4 Drop It looks good but wont give you clearance issuse. Or you can wait for the sportline kit to be released but that will give you a lower more aggresive stance

No, for two reasons:

1. Air ride is really more of a show car thing. Unless it is well-engineered your handling will suffer, and I've seen very few well-engineered air ride systems. Most are kludges.

2. You will scrape the bottom when you _least_ expect it. Yes, 90% of the time you will remember and raise the car, but it takes only one hit to really screw things up.

I suggest that you drive your car stock for a couple of months then ask yourself if the lowering is really needed. If you're still motivated at that point you will have a lot more information to work with.

yeah iv never had any problems with my car being lowerd the 2 inches it is. wanna know why??? because i dont suck. i dont hit curves, i dont hit parking space concrete blocks, and i dont have anything hurt the bottom of my car becuase i can tell if something in the road will hit the bottom of the car just by looking at it. so no it doesnt do anything bad at all to your car if you know wut ur doing.

Don't park where they hae the curbs.... lol
Its ok, you will adjust to it! Just don't wip into the parking spots! and most spaces are designed to fit a larger car so your safe not having to pull all the way frwd!

ps. I used to live in Kent/Lynnwood/Conrete, Washingon & I used to work for Michaels Toyota in Bellevue& Magic Toyota in Lynnwood. Washington trip is needed soon, mayeb I'll stop by!!

a couple of questions:

1) I thought the TRD Springs are supposed to lower your car 1.5, many ppl are saying only 1 inch. Maybe 1.5, after they set in?

2) Would it be ok to stick with the stock shocks if i were to get TRD Springs?

3) This is a really stupid question, but what the hell. Do i need a camber kit with the TRD Springs? or Would i need an alignment done?

i searched, but could not find an answer to these questions. Thanx

One thing, if you get springs, I would highly recommend you get the shocks as well. First of all, it's much more convenient so u won't have to take everything apart again in the future and do the shocks. Second of all, Spring + Shocks = REALLY GREAT Handling.
